I am sure we could do better than this for 14m, which is the fee old peg leg is saying he wants for him.

Jesus, don't tell me in a "global market" there isn't better out there for that kind of money.

There simply has to be mate.

There's better value available in the PL - Cabaye would cost us less.

As I understand it the escape clause is in Fellainis contract in every transfer window.
This means that no matter what his value will never go above that value....or substantially so at least.
It appears that we have a slight opportunity to make a little more than expected because of the famous "dithering" of David Moyes. It looks as if he thought he could buy him cheaper and now with his back to the wall he needs to make a signing so we may be able to squeeze a little more out of him.
It really was very poor decision making on his behalf.

Players like De Bruyne, strootman and the likes haven't been going for much more than that money. I'm gutted TBH. I thought our days of sideways passers went with Arteta and Rodwell.

Unless he signs a new contract with us.

Or maybe Dave loves us after all and waited for the clause to expire due to said love!

I don't know about better for the SAME price. Maybe Defour from Porto? Not sure he'd be interested in the move though.

But I don't see how McCarthy is any better than Diame, and we could get him for £5.5m. Does anyone really rate McCarthy SO much better than Diame that the £7m (or more) difference in price is justifiable?

Part of the problem is the proposition of letting Felli go for too low a fee. £25m may or may not be all he's worth, but if we want to bolster the squad using the proceeds of his sale, we need to actually generate a decent sum! I wouldn't accept less than £35m for him, for that reason.

its hard to accept £35m for a player when nobody will pay that for them
