A very good choice for a future captain i think.

Maybe not next year because Neville will probably retain it untill he retires or leaves.

But who better than a Everton fan, rather than a Manutd fan

Jagielka has the biggest back pocket in England

Torres, Drogba, Robinho, Anelka, Berbatov, Ronaldo and Jones all in it :P

You missed Fuller and Ameobi.

Yer he is quickly developing into future captain material, however he would be the first to admit the best captain currently at this football club is Phil Neville. Every dog has its day though, Jags' will come too.

Jags to succeed Neville as Captain is a great shout - heard it first from my Missus whilst watching the game yesterday.

In terms of leadership and grit he does remind me a little of Stubbsy - always looks like he will give everything and then some for the team

i said to my old man that i could see stubbs in jags just the way he was barking at the other players pointing them around that ground.... deffo he is running our back line

I see more Ratcliffe in him than Stubbs - he is not blessed with technique, but reads the game well, has great pace and is superb at making those last-ditch tackles.

it's going to be interesting when neville does hand over the armband as we have a few decent candidates to take over from him. the captaincy can prove a burden for some players, inhibiting their performance on the field, whereas others seem inspired by the role & it brings the best out of them.

Arteta for me all day, you can tell that the players play with so much more confidence when he's on the pitch, players like pienaar and osman seem much more comfortable knowing that if they get in a tight spot, they can work it to him, and he'll work his magic.

jagielka would be a close second choice, he's a rock back there, but lets keep in mind that right now he's in good form. i'd need to see him struggle, and show that he's got the bottle to bounce back from it before i'd like him to be captain.

If there is to be a change of captain (which there wont be!), then there is only 1 man deserving of that honour.......step forward Mr Cahill. The epitomises Everton, he is a born leader and drives the team forward

I would agree, as Cahill is Mr Everton, however imo its better to have a Defender as Captain to order the team about

True but a defender has the best perspective on Every player, and would be able to see the problems in the team - where as a midfielder would have his back to the defence? :P(y)

Only a [Poor language removed] midfielder would have his back to the defence, a good one can survey all around him and have access to all areas of the pitch

True...

...Anyways, im happy with Neville as captian. If he was injured or dropped ( like that'd happen), id probably go with Cahill - for the fact that he deserves it more. But Jagielka would do a great job, as he did at Sheffield United.
