JAGS FOR DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD?

With Phil Neville being ruled out of the Brum game, is Jags the best option to play infront of the back four? Rodwell/Heitinger are also options but my feeling is that Moyes may move Jags to DM and recall Heitinger. Jags has played there on occasion and to be honest i haven't been impressed but with injuries the options are few and far between, and at least he will get stuck in, as i have been a critic of Heits recently and to see him pull out of tackles is so infuriating, Jags to be the shield and playing it simple rather than lumping it forward which he is prone to do. Whats the general concesus?

Heitinga there with Jags at CB makes more sense, seeing as the former is a better DM than the latter, and the latter is a better CB than the former.

Jags is pretty poor in midfield, but he'll stick to the task and not leave us exposed. Hopefully, at centreback, Heitinga will do his job. Given how well Hibbert played at CB he must be a consideration. He's very rusty though and prone to give away freekicks in dangerous areas. Plus, if we used Hibbo at CM, Coleman would have to go to fullback and I think he needs a rest.

On balance, I'd probably make this Johnny's last chance to show that he can do what's asked of him.

I dont want Jags in midfield. Moyes played him there when he first joined us to ease him in. He wasnt very good as he always looked too rushed on the ball and kept giving it away. However he has come on a lot as a player since then.

Heitinga will slot in there. He's gotten a bad press in that role due to pulling out of a couple of challenges, but I think he's pretty good at screening the back four. It looks like only Bowyer will give them bite in the middle as Ferguson and Gardner are probably not going to recover from injuries. We have a chance to get hold of that area of the pitch.

Jags played there in a derby once and was very poor, so i'd give it a miss on that but if we had to for a reason i'd slot him there

I certainly don't want Jags there ahead of Heitinga tomorrow but was a lot of the reason people think he stunk when he first played at dm for us because he was A : still settling in at the club, and B because he was in there with Neville who is a similar type player.

Both defensive minded players with very little creativity on the ball, hence why we sucked so much in midfield at that point in time.

Playing dm on his own with better players around him he might do better, but seeing how panicy he is on the ball i can't see it.

With respect kid ; Close Thread ....

Absolutely not. I'd rather have Heitinga there and that, as we all know, is saying something.
