1. The domestic loan spot could be used by someone who will actually make a contribution.
2. The loan fee could be used to get the player above.
3. Why would he swap City's bench for ours?
4. If, as you say, he'll probably be injured for half the season, why do you want him?
5. I'm sure Roberto and his coaches/scouts can think of alternatives.

I actually don't like him. Like you said I think he is made of glass.

I just could not think of anyone (CM; free or available on loan for a small fee). Do you have any suggestion?

When not injured he was always a classy player for us and City, and for all of those that say they never liked him i'm sure they cheered when he was doing well as a young man.

Class stays with you irrespective of injuries and think that if the package was suited to us would be a good addition to a squad that is far too small to put together a league and Europa challenge next season, if only to give a first teamer a rest once game is won.

Off the top of my head how about someone like Sidwell or Mulumbu? Both would be available, both would add depth and wouldn't cost much. Neither would be starting XI material but just to pad the squad out.

Much rather use the loan spot on Bringing in Jovetic or someone of the quality that can make a instant impact rather than Rodwell, as for buying him nah no chance on earth

Colback is a better option than Rodwell mate, at least when needed he will be available not injured like

Good suggestions there. I would perfer Mulumbu beacuse he is a lot younger. We will sign Barry so I won't perfer another 30+ CM in Sidwell.

If we sign Barry then comes on a free i think the centre mid looks pretty decent with Gibson returning, we have Ledson and moreso Lundstram who are on the brink of starting to get games for us as well, would say one more addition on loan or a free would round it off nicely, don't wanna be spending money their though as it's a part of the team with young everton lads set to make the step up shortly

Just been reading this piece where Tosh Farrell (who was supposed to be talking about Barkley) says about Jack:
"If someone had got hold of him and taught him how to head properly he would have been the best centre-back that we’ve ever produced. He was fantastic. He had the lot.”

It does beg a few questions:

a) How difficult can heading be?
b) Why didn't somebody teach him?
c) Jags and Stones aren't necessarily the best headers of the ball but other parts of their game compensate and they have a big man alongside them to take most of the high balls.
d) If he was almost the complete centreback, why did he never play there?
e) Pellegrini played Garcia at the back because he had so little faith in Nastasic. Why didn't they try Rodwell there?

It would be good to take him back. Having him as Stones' long-term partner in central defence or as part of a midfield trio with Barkley and McCarthy is very appealing, if he can stay fit.

Diame, if the release clause of £3.5m is true.
Manny Fernandes, if he is ACTUALLY on a free transfer this summer.
Both, IMHO, are exactly the type of player to suit RM's system.

The nostalgic part of me would love to see Rodwell return and progress into a reliable prem player for us. But he has serious, serious medical issues and regardless of the recent improvement in the balance sheet, we don't have the finances to carry any more long-term injury risks in our squad - we're already sweating on Kone and Gibson.

colback free in summer, we can sign him to reinforce our middle and we have 2 pair DM for rotation, also he can play leftback, braines can change to play dm

I'd be ok with Colback or Diame - both could contribute without costing much.

If Martinez wants Rodwell then fair enough - he's got most of his signings right so far and on loan there's little risk. People who suggest he can sort him out because of his degree in pysiotherapy are clutching at straws though - this is the guy who signed Alcaraz despite all the injury problems he's got.

Rodwell really needs to make a decision about his future. Two or three years ago he would have been one of the first name that would have been suggested as a midfielder who would make the plane for Brazil.

Instead ,I watched the celebration at Eastlands(flicking happily over and back to Anfield) and Rodwell was a totally peripheral figure to the celebration . He looked lost and unimportant.
I think he is very talented and I think he has been unlucky with injuries. I think there is a very good player in there waiting for the right club and the right manager. I don't think City is that club with their squad of expensive internationals , but maybe Everton and RM might be.
