...most notably:

Norwich 2-2 Everton
Everton 0-0 West Brom
Cardiff 0-0 Everton

The recent defeats to Palace and Southampton will naturally stand out as being where it was lost because of how close we were to 4th at the time of them happening. However, over the course of the season we have quite simply drawn too many games. The three at the beginning of the season leave a particular sense of "what could of been" because we hadn't made our transfers by then.

Losing at home to Sunderland and CP is what cost us. Win those and we're 5 points clear of Arsenal.

Arsenal have lost 7 games, too.

Norwich 2-2 Everton
Everton 0-0 West Brom
Cardiff 0-0 Everton
Palace 0-0 Everton
Stoke 1-1 Everton
West Brom 1-1 Everton

Admittingly, we were lucky to get away with a draw v Palace, but as for the rest of them its 10 points lost as far as I'm concerned...

we've also won games where we've been shyte...

The blame lies with our lack of consistently high-end players. We need more better players, basically, as expecting our core first-team to always play out their skins is unrealistic.

Not to bottom teams at home. You have to get at least 4 points out of those two fixtures at home.

You could also argue that it was the nazis that cost us.

No, it's the defeats which have cost us.

Most notably the six points dropped at home to Sunderland and Palace.

Sunderland and Crystal Palace at home costed us. We should get a point like the game today.

In hindsight, you can use whatever game you want, to say what lost us it [the chance of getting 4th or whatever] but when its as early as using the norwich 2-2 game for example plus other 2,no one would know that day the 1st day of all days, that losing 2 points could go towards the total,as said above you could use the palace/saints games easy-im happy with were we are,and what we've done this season

No everyone wins and loses game so over a season that they do or don't deserve, the biggest let down in this season was not strengthening in the winter window with a fit forward.

Yes there a lot of points that we missed out on, many of them points we should have taken. But that is the main difference between good teams and great teams. Although we have the ability, we don't have the consistency to be classed as a great team. Yet

The draws were always going to cost us though. Its so obvious. When you look at the season as a whole and how other teams have done, unbelievably its not only cost us CL league 4th but the title too. As funny as that may sound, it has. Just turning 3 or 4 of those draws into wins would of seen us going for the league. Its astonishing and it sends a shiver down my spine as to what could of been.

Ahhhhhhh well, too many draws last season, too many this season. I do feel though that we as a team on the field are very very close to something special. We are right there in the mix with Chelsea, City, Arsenal etc....
