It's snowing

Every road in Lincolnshire seems to be closed from accidents or blocked by snow, not that we intended to go out. We haven't had much snow today but the temperature of -6°C to -4°C and winds of up to 50mph have been difficult. The forecast is for another 14 hours of gale force winds. Quite hard to keep the house at a reasonable temperature. Well stocked up though with beer, spirits, bread and cheese. Might have other food too.

The Met Office give these weird warnings that say you might die between 8am and 3pm, but after that its sound.

Bizarre these over-the-top warnings isn't it. Had the same in NZL with an ex-tropical cyclone that came through last week - ultimately all we had was a couple of days of rain (quite heavy mind you over a 24 hour period) and southerly gales.

If the Met Office don't give warnings though and people get caught in the weather, they are called negligent; if they do give warnings and the weather isn't as bad as forecasted, they are called pedantic and there is a risk future severe weather warnings won't be taken seriously. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
