Player Valuation: £8m
Just cropped up on another thread, so, can the club find the money to expand the pool of players in the first team squad in the summer?
Last summer we saw Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov, Distin, then Neill signed, and Jo retained on loan.

News has just broke that Jo has been returned to city who have sent him packing on loan to Galatasary. So Donovan in for us and Jo out.

Anyway, back to the summer, so we got four + a loan in. Out went Lescott, Jacobsen, VDM, Valente, and Castillo was returned after loan. So 5 out. We have just sold Neill to Gala.

So now our loanee is Donovan who is contracted to the MLS for the next 5 years. And the number of players is still very similar to what it was, what percentage of turnover are we seeing in terms of wages? If we want to sign Pienaar and Saha up to longer and I suspect bigger contracts, will that not eat into any surplus we have made having shuffled the pack and let Jo go and made a few quid on Neill? If they sign will that restrict the wage pool Moyes has with which to add any 'marquee' signings?
Can we fight a season out with what we have? Will we see the youth produce any long term first team fixtures? If so will their be wage room for them or will we see players leave to make way for so called 'progress'?

Are we running at capacity ?

We dont need anybody, we need to retain the players we have and get them fit, a fit and healthy squad we are covered in most places.

Considering we have this new Polish Keeper and a number of youngsters to bring thru.

Just my view anyway.

We have to sell to buy and theres not many players I would wish to lose.

In Moyes We Trust tho.

Our turnover is 79.7 mill mate, the payroll for the entire club annually is 49.7 mill so the ratio is somehwere boderline 60%.

In terms of capcity as improvemnts on the field improve so do players wages, increased success should indicate better financial results which should in turn mean better terms for wages as players values rise.

Wages have gone up by 20 mill since 2002

Turnover has gone up 40 mill in the same time. (Almost doubled)

So we should have the capacity to pay higher wages or improved terms for new or existing signings. The clubs policy though is to come in as close to the black as possible.

well we can all pick a damn good starting 11 with a fit squad.
we have rodwell gosling duffy coleman vaughan anichebe baxter bidwell and a whole host of other youngsters who are improoving and keeping the elder players on there toes.

i just think the blend is almost right.

perhaps a good portion of 10 million spent on a player or 2 is all we need for a complete article squad.but even without that investment things look ok for atleast a season or 2.

as for landon donovan , im sure i read somewhere that with his last contract signing that he now completely controls his own future. implying he can move where he wants to , whenever he likes for a certain fee (im not sure but the old grey matter recalls a fee of 2.5 million ).

Thats what ive never got myself.

Where does that £30m go? Im not implying anything dodgy goes on, what on Earth do we manage to spend £30m on things other than wages.

Isn't anything over 50% considered very bad indeed? Wasnt the 79.7 mill made on the back of fifth in the league, FA cup final run, a few quid from Uefa cup? Realistically, will we top 79.7 this season? What will the percentage be should we gross less?

I believe the 49.whatever outlay is squad only, so staffing including Moyes is not factored into that, the club has to pay off certain loans and debts, costs of travel and maintenance, advertising, opening and running the two stores, outlay on schemes pursuing kirkby and whatever next, policing on matchdays, FPF, then minutia like website costs, stock costing, consultancy fees, friendly/pre season tours.

I bet your a God on Fifa Manager?

Our debt repayments are not that high, but I suppose adding up all the things you listed, it does cost a pretty penny.

I belive the Police charge us silly money per game.

Whatever our limit is it will never reach that of Utd or City. i have heard that both Ballack and Fabregas, after his game, flew into Manchester last night and left 3 hours later!?! Must be signing.
