It has started , but as usual the media are missing the point.

Do people not learn? We had all this hysteria with Martinez, which lasted two and a half years and only came to an end just a few months ago. Nothing has been achieved as of yet, we don't even have a manager at present, and appointing Koeman is not some massive piece of news that immediately puts us in the big time. We would actually have to get into the Champions League or win a trophy for this hysteria to be warranted, otherwise our status as also rans will be maintained.

Howay the lads.

Lots of teams have walked the walk over the years, but when it comes to talking the talk they have been found wanting, in order to make people sit up and take notice, you gotta do that with actions on the pitch, so until that happens, we are the team that finished 11th the last 2 seasons.

Baffling thread really, but suppose it makes a change from peoples heads falling off a different way.

True this.

You gotta be banging teams rar out like Jason Bourne in his new movie trailer.

Until this happens it's paper talk.

i.e. we look good on paper but that's all.

At present. No new stadium. No manager. Yet. Chatting wham on a forum. No trophies.

Keep it real.

I don't think there was much "hysteria" when Bobby was appointed, was there?

There were a great many people in a totally opposite frame of mind in fact.

Even diehard Blues laughed at the seemingly ludicrous but ultimately darned close to fulfilled CL ambition at the end of that first season.

Any euphoria with Bobby came at the beginning of the second season when we were in Europe, signed Lukaku on a permadeal and tied Ross to a long contract.

But that all started to unravel when Ross was hurt the day before the season began and then that last seven minutes home to Arsenal followed by the Chelsea game :(

In truth there is not much euphoria over Ronald's appointment either.

But what there is right now is a feeling that Everton are at long, long last and for the first time in the Premiership era being run like a 21st century major football club.

Mr. Moshiri is creating the euphoria with his cool as ice approach where nowt is being said yet lots seems to be being done.

And after so long in the wilderness I for one am going to join in the euphoria

Even if it does turn out to be ephemeral.

Why should the media's antenna be tuned toward Everton supporters' parochial frequency?
For over a generation, Everton's football team has, on the pitch, done sweet Fanny Adams to prompt the media to 'adjust their dial'.

We Evertonians all hope that the winds of change afoot our club lead to the return of great times.

But nothing has been earned yet...and certainly not the media's attention.

To stamp our feet and insist otherwise betrays a disposition suggesting sense of entitlement.

...and every blue Liverpudlian has first hand ('neighbourly') acquaintance toward the pernicious ravage of that particular pathology....

When Everton earns the right to attention, it shall receive it.

Until then, best we maintain discreetly optimistic profile.

In my opinion, anyways.

It's baffling that nobody picked up on the fact you got your talking and walking the wrong way around(n)(n)

Our fans are right to be optimistic about things with Moshiri there but claims of us returning to the top table when we've just come 11th is setting us up for a fall.

We haven't deserved any respect over the past 2 seasons. Especially from the Bournemouth 3-3 onwards. We had a manager there who refused to change his ways, and a group of players who everyone claimed were top 4 standard and yet kept gifting points to the opposition on a weekly basis. The professionalism from them in the final few months was absolutely disgraceful as well and I include the so called superstars like Lukaku and Barkley in that.

As has been said, when we start to achieve something like getting back in to the top 6 (and hopefully the top 4 soon), or winning trophies again, we will gain more respect from the media.

I don't see why we should even value their opinions anyway when they're trying to make claims that Southampton are a bigger club than Everton.
