Is that kiss goodbye to Moyes then? Who would you want if so?

Moyes has said on many occasions that he controls the transfer policy, the buck stops with him etc. Well, if that's the case, then he should shoulder some of the blame for dithering and perhaps not being ballsy enough - if those are the accusations that some are levelling at the board.

They're two cheeks of the same arse.

If Moyes is truly cheesed off that he wasn't able to drum up the funds to support his targets, then he really should have no option but to sack it off. He'd have reasonable grounds to, based on the fact that he really can't see us giving him the ammo to take us to the next level (whether I think he is good enough to do so or not is another question for another thread).

We've missed a big boat here. We're right up there in the pack chasing one of the European spots, and we're still in the Cup. With our current threadbare squad we clearly need strenghening. Negredo wasn't cheap, and Fer was a risk. But surely with the former, if we manage to finish in the top 4 then he's exactly the sort of player who might give us an edge in a CL qualifer. Or certainly another option during such a match. As for Fer, I find it hard to fathom that we weren't aware of his recent injury and have taken advice as to the likely recovery period and whether now was the best time to be taking the plunge. It would have made sense for our offer to be based on such advice, and by all accounts our offer was agreed by FC Twente. We then tried to move the goalposts, for reasons still to be confirmed despite numerous rumours etc.

We're on the cusp of achieving something, but now in danger of blowing out when it matters. And even if we were to finish top 4 or win a cup, we're hardly equipped to compete in European football. The warning signs are there if we don't finish in a European slot - our big-ticket players such as Fellaini & Baines will move onto to play at that level elsewhere (no-one would begrudge them that), so the fact we've sat on our hands during this window is even more annoying. With Negredo, even if we coughed to the fee Sevilla wanted, we could have softened the blow with the Sky money in the summer, or the "windfall" from the CL (if we made it) or the Fellaini fee if, as expected, we sell him were we not to finish the season strongly. This was one gamble where the risks could be calculated and spread against.

John Stones is not the kind of player who would give us that edge in European football. Yet again, Moyes moves quickly for a defender-prospect (one who clearly comes with huge potential), but nowhere near what we need NOW. Why does Moyes never seem to dither over these sort of players, but when it comes to further up the park or bigger price tags he takes forever?

Christ, I'm not even making sense to myself here. Truly gutted, and totally deflated here. The board and the gaffer both need replacing as we're never going to be anything other than treading water.

Rant over. COYB.

He's not going anywhere. He has the safest job in world football.

He'll take an increased contract, safe in the knowledge that he'll be employed for the full duration of it.

Not only that, where is he going to go? Bear in mind we're currently the 5th best club officially in the Premier League this season, then there's very few "bigger" clubs he can go to.

And abroad? I honestly don't think Moyes is stupid enough to go abroad. He doesn't know the languages and he'd be setting himself up to fail badly if he got the decision wrong.

He'll be at Everton for the next five years. And I'm not even a big fan of his, so there's no "bias" from me in saying it.

Moyes plan is the same as it always was: He´s here until Sir Alex retires and he can take over at Man utd. It´s been set up for years and as good as an open secret.

It's a bit more straightforward signing a defender I'd say, though. Inspite of Moyes being a sour puss some times, I think he's got the gist of it in the transfer market. I'd like to see us move for players to strengthen our starting 11, but with the finances we have, it's always going to be a struggle to get signings in.
No guarantees either of Fer or Negredo would be successes in the EPL and our squad, so I've of the mind that we're still well off.

If there is money, then we can spend it on august 30 to strengthen our squad for a European competition. The squad we have is still definitely enough, barring a re-occurence of massive injuries. (For a challenge of the top 4, I should say before I'm crucified)

Gary Megson will be available in the summer.

How about 4th time lucky for Howard.

Although I know you're joking here, it helps my point.

I'm not sure we'd get anyone better than Moyes. I know he has his faults but he does well with what he's given (bar a few weird subs and so on).
I just don't see us as that an attractive proposition for a better manager. No money etc... I mean we could get a Coyle, or maybe a Martinez, but is that really better then Moyes? I'm not so sure it is.

What you say is entirely possible but what is it exactly you think will put moyes at the top of list they could compile with some of the most talented experienced mangers out there to replace the most succesful British manager of all time ? Moyes has never won a trophy (although we did make a final once), he's zero champions league experience , his European experience is 'limited ' with a few pretty appalling results in there as well & he's no real experience of shopping at the top level of the transfer market. We are a team that regularly competes around and about the top 8 which is impressive given our structure and resources but united I'd think have a whole different set of criteria

Totally agree Sheeds. United would be nuts to go for Moyes as Fergie's replacement in my opinion.

BUT Moyes is rated insanely highly outside of Everton as far as I can tell, so it could be the case.

I like Moyes a lot, but i honestly think he is at a cross road now.

Option 1 - Stay with Everton and take the cash.

Option 2 - Try his luck abroad to win trophies

It's all about what Moyes wants from his career, security and money or does he have the ambition to win trophies.

Interesting point mate, highly rated by who though , Pundits ? Absolutely and other managers seem to highly rate him to. When the spurs & Chelsea jobs came up he was nowhere near their shortlists & I'd expect the same if their current managers moved on. I actually think his best chance (i think moyes may believe the same) of making a short list would be if wenger left but making a short list and getting a job are two different things. If it wasn't Liverpool I think that that job would have been a good fit for him , if that makes sense ? Otherwise though I'm not sure where he can go.
