There is no doubt he is right up there, but spanish league is great for passing and attacking play, would he cut it against likes of stoke, newcastle, sunderland who are physical sides and would just kick lumps out of him, that would prove if he is the best in the world

Of course he will. He already has.

Does this mean Lukas Podolski has a bigger stature in football than Di Stefano who never even played in a World Cup?

Messi stunk in the SF and final. He can't handle the mantle of a best ever player. He can't lead a team to the top of Everest like pele, Maradona.

Champions league winner though. Yeah right.

Anyone thinking Messi is the best ever probably never saw Maradona, Cruyff, Best, Pele, Zidane, Rivelino. I'd put the proper Ronaldo (Brazil) and Zico (Brazil) ahead of him. He's a great player but I think people fall into the trap of he's the best they've seen ergo he's the best of all time, just doesn't work that way.

Pele had Jarzinho, Alberto, Rivelino etc. around him compared to Dimichelis, Higuain and Lavezzi.

Messi has won a Champions' League and Maradona hasn't.

Unfair to judge a player on what's basically two tournaments.

This really sums it up.......
