Is it just me or does there seem to be a real lack of talented CBs?

Genuine question, apart from Thiago Silva I can't think of many CBs that belong in the same class as CBs five+ years ago.
 

Zouma seems decent for the future.
Terry very good at what he does as well for Chelsea, arguably best in the league
 

Gabriel the new Arsenal centre back looks a very good player. Zouma at Chelsea also looks like hes going to be excellent. Koscielny i like. Alderweild at Southampton.

There are quite a few you could name of the top of your head, defenders dont get the media coverage in the press they used to.

I always thought Thiago Silva was gash btw or rather not was transfer fee is worth.
 

How many kids want to be the intelligent defender who spends the game competing for headers and throwing their body in front of shots.

They want to be smashing the back of the net and doing Tika taka tricks with the Nike deal on the front of FIFA17.
 
There are some good ones- Jags, Cahill, Fonte, Vlaar, Kompany. None compare to Dave Watson. He was a rock.
 
I see were the OP is coming from a lot of names mentioned 5/10 years ago would of been average compared to the likes of Campbell, Rio, Desailly, Nesta, Cannavaro, even the likes of Woodgate & Ledley King
