Player Valuation: £100m
The figures are from Deloitte's annual report relating to the year ending 2008. The figure for the Premier League debt therefore includes last year's relegated clubs with Newcastle (owing £25 million), Middlesbrough (£93m) and West Brom (£48m) all in the red.

Some comparrisons are surpriseing for all the stick the Board gets - is it fair to say they run a decent business? - if not what would you suggest to improve profit form a buisness point of view?

why are our assets negative? i don't know much about finance but i'd imagine thats not a good thing. is the net asset figure just our assets - net debt? i'm having a lot of trouble making any kind of sense out of this :(

Essentially it's assets minus liabilities. A negative figure means that we're balance sheet insolvent. The assets in this case will be things like cash, inventory and so on rather than longer term assets such as players, Goodison etc.

Chelsea - Net debt: £710.56m (£400m since converted into shares)
Liverpool - Net debt: £299.84m
Man City - Net debt: £137.53m
Man United - Net debt: £649.43m

That's shocking IMO.

The City one really caught my eye, Villa (considering they had no debt when Learner took over) and Fulham's too, Pompeys i was expecting to be higher given the financial trouble and fire sale they have had over the summer.

Which brings me on to the fact that i was surprised that Villa and Spurs wage bill was in and around equal to ours.

Citeh's have probably sky rocketted in the past 2 seasons and will keep on going.

I think Pompey clawed their way back by selling all their valuable players for a decent bit of chance.

The wage bill thing is strange too. Im getting the feeling that we do actually pay a decent amount on wages, whether it will be add ons etc. Had that feeling with rumours of Heitinga being on £50k a week. Cahill is the highest earner on 2.25mill a year. What's that per week?

43k per week, and in the article it clearly states these figures are for the year ending 2008, so Heitinga coming here wasn't even on the best journo's rumour lips yet.

I cannot figure out why spurs, with higher wages, still manage to make more profit than us. Bearing in mind we finish higher and better cup run.

Bigger corporate and sponsorship draw being in the country's capital. Will be less expensive than Arsenal and Chelsea, but more up market than West Ham. So if they cant get in at Arsenal and Chelsea, Spurs will do. Spurs have always been a big draw for investors, players, and managers, for some reason...main one being the 3rd biggest southern club in the prem.
