Is Cahill a striker?

He's a warrior. I'm not gonna argue about his attributes today, done it too much before. In terms of mental attitude tho, not just in football, he's exemplary.

He's boss. Think his passing isn't particularly great, I mean it goes where he wants it to but he generally likes to keep it simple and short. Sometimes his first touch is a little sloppy also. But if that's the worst you can say about him he's still a great player.

No and yes! Cahill has the aerial attributes that many strikers possess, also he is not a stranger to playing up there. Moyes may have many faults but his strength is bringing in players who can play in various positions. Recently Cahill has been playing in a deep midfield role and we all know he prefers to play off a lone striker. In affect, he is used to being in an advanced offensive position so filling in for the injured Saha, Vaughan, Anichebe and co, is no real problem for Tim.

I've been one of the few who's been happy with him of late, I think his performances in terms of involvement have been alot better.

Is he a striker? After watching todays performance I have no doubts he could play there but I still think he's best floating. When he helps midfield and attack and interchanges positions.

I can't agree with people on his tackling, he's probably one of our best. His problem if the majority of freekicks away are for little trips and pushes. His passing not the best but he does bring alot of the team when he's at his best.

I've been very happy with him of late, hasn't been at his best but his tenacity, workrate etc have definatly been upped in the last few games.

He played striker for the Aussies in the WC and played well. I think the side could be pretty effective as a striker, he needs a partner though.

No way is he a striker. He put in a top shift yesterday an never stoped runing. But he just can't lead the line, it's not him. Just behind is his position. To many times when we broke he was in midfield. Not his fault thou, its a mind set. Top guy, top player. Not a striker thou.

We love you tim!!

Spot on, he didnt lead the line, at times he was very deep. But its not going to come after 1 game, most strikers have 10 years from the age of about 9 to learn to be a striker and some its natural.

He put in an excellent shift tho and i applaud you Timmy.

Of course he isn't a striker in the usual sense.

His passing is good enough cause he doesn't give it away a lot but he is just good at the basic reliable stuff which is fine when the other players around you can pass like Arteta and Pienarr but if he was the best passer in midfield we would be in trouble.

But he isn't so his passing isn't a problem.

His tackling again isn't brillaint but its good enough, he will put himself into tackles 100% even though he might not always win them and often gives away fouls. He could be better but isn't in the team for his tackling but overall its fine.

His strong points and what makes him so valuable to us are his late runs into ther box and the knakc of being in the right place at the right time, and when he is their he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.

Takw away that and you would have an avergae midfielder at best. But with it he becomes one of the most important midfielders in the league.

He isn't a striker but his instincts and an attacking mid mean he can play there if he has to better than a lot of players.

Putting him up front has been a resounding success. With Anichebe returning to action this afternoon the question is, does he go in up front or do we continue with the Cahill experiment?

doesnt make much difference, with Fellaini a c*** hair from a rather unnecessary ban, cahill drops back to his former position anyway. Also, how is tims yellow card count?

Lovely, touching moment in the 1st half, we had a corner and Tim was being a bit a scamp, Mou had a bit of a sulk on, because he had just missed a decent chance, so Tim gave the fro a little tap. Made me smile anyway, carry on.

Guys I have no idea how to describe his play exept to say he's all HEART.

What I can say though is that he's an awesome down to earth guy.

I met him whilst filming the MTV awards red carpet here in OZ.

After a few interviews I told him i was a HUGE fan , and he hung around and spoke to me for 10 whole minutes...

I bombarded him with 50 questions about everything from current team form to andy johnson not scoring as much as he should be.. to his operation here in OZ.

He was more than happy to talk to me seeing that i was a real fan.

I absolutely love him. he even gave me a plug on camera lol

He's my favourite ever Everton player and I'm 38 years old and seen a lot of em.

I saw that. It was more than a little tap, it was more of a grab.

He can do a job upfront, I think he's pretty much proved that over the past few games. As can Fellaini really, they seem to interchange positions or at times there both upfront together.

I don't think he's the long term answer though, I'd like to see Saha in there when he's fit. The amount of times I saw Arteta get on the ball, get his head up and look for the killer pass. There was no one making that forward run and looking to get in behind the opposition defense.

But it's good to know we've got more options up there than we first thought. Timbo and Felli are doing good jobs.
