Went to see INXS for the first time last night, supporting Matchbox 20, and they announced during the gig that this was to be their last ever concert.
Before the gig I was worried that they would be another band trying to live on the hype of their heyday, but they were absolutely amazing. The new singer isn't Michael Hutchence, but a great voice and stage presence.

If that is the standard of show they can still put on, they will be sorely missed. Still think it is a bit crap that a band who used to sell out stadia finish their career as a support act though.

Matchbox 20 were pretty good too.....

The gig at The Royal Court during this tour was off the scale.. I have seen many live bands / acts over the years, but this band were ( and still are by the OP ) genuinely different class live. I would go as far to say better live than in the studio.
Their live skills were due to the fact that they had to tour extensively in Australia before getting a break, as the Aussie Pub scene was massive. They didnt just show up on a TV show and get instant fame !

I first saw them at a concert in 1981 when they weren't the top act. All the Ozmates will know how good a line up this is for a $3.10 ticket!

Oh I like that.. Even the Divinyls on the card.. Is that your ticket ?

No. I was trying to recall one of the bands, Mondo Rock, and did a search. This is what came up, so I thought I'd post it as it was the same concert anyway.

Yes, Divinyls were awesome, but I reckon its funny to see that they, and INXS, weren't the headline acts at the time.

I've had dinner with Kirk and Layne they are absolutely lovely people.

Degsy, you really underestimate their impact mate.
