Into Moyes head

Player Valuation: £10m
Well, a lot of things have been going on (or not).

I've noticed that this season 3 youngsters have emerged. I haven't followed all the previous pre seasons, but I guess Moyes never gave so much time to so many new kids at the same time.

On the other hand, he came out to public stating he wanted 5/6 players.

We haven't signed anybody yet. And there is some unrest amongst the fans.

Do we have the funds? I've said before I don't believe we do.

I already said that we may have reached a peak, and that it is time to reshape the squad or to start some process that will make us a stronger contender in a couple of years.

Let me try to explain my views... I stated that i don't believe we have the funds, but even if we have, couldn't Moyes be waiting to see how the kids react to real action football, before he blows his transfer kit?

Looking at Rodwell and Gosling, they've been playing in the midfield, precisely the area where we are short.

Or could Moyes be ready to take a gamble on the kids and wait for January to spend?

He said he needed 5 or 6 players, maybe he changed his mind after watching the kids playing...or maybe he's not getting what he wants with the money he has...look at Moutinho.

Even 25M are not enough to bring 5 quality players to the team, if you consider Moutinho to be one of them. It is impossible, at this point.

Maybe Smith is just a piece with some special purpose in the jigsaw. He would be cheap, and could be cost effective, bringing balance to the squad. Not a great player, IMO, but maybe Moyes is expecting him to play a special role. And still have some funds.

I stated before that, for a number of reasons, maybe Moutinho at some point was considered to be a non essential or a not possible target.

If the kids turn out right, people will say it was a master plan. If things go wrong, he'll have to spend in january.

I think that he clearly understands he doesn't have the resources to match a top 4 challenge, so he's starting to bring new blood to the squad. In two years time, Rodwell and Gosling may be showing the benefits of playing competitive football, blossoming into good players. By that time, Baxter may be ready to "blow".

In the same two years time, players like Arteta, Lescott, Yakubu, Yobo, and Pienaar will be around 28/29 years old. They won't be old by that time. Cahill will be 31, still pretty much in the useful zone.

Vaughan will still be very young.

So we'll have a team whose most important players will be in the maturity age, being far from being old.

During these two years, Moyes may add a handful of players, but really good player. Imagine he can use all the funds for 1 or 2 players a year. They would be real quality.

He's in a better position than when he came to the club. We have better players and more stabile structure.

But of course, until then we may be fighting for top ten finishes rather than for top 5.

I say it wouldn't bother me too much, as long as we would be able to keep the best players and to invest in this new blood. It's like taking one step behind in order to have 2 steps further.

I don't think any sane manager would like to take the gamble of sticking with our current squad until January, no matter how good the youngsters turn out to be. We are way too short in numbers to compete domestically, let alone cope with the extra demands of playing in europe.

I think Stoke are the only club in the Premier League with less players than us and they are not going to set the league alight. We need to get these 5 or 6 players in as soon as possible to have a chance of matching last seasons success. Even with 5 or 6 more players out squad will be smaller than most.

I think it was clear Moyes wasn't impressed with Gosling when he bundled him off and put Jag's in the centre of midfield.

We know he likes Rodwell, there was a story in the Echo on Saturday about it but he also mentioned he will put Jack down in the reserves aswell as using him in the first team, so it probably means he's not looking to play him reguarly at all imo.

I don't think none of the youngsters are ready yet because none of them have the attributes a player like Rooney had at that age, and he's just a one off.

Baxter seems like a geniune talent but he seems to weak to be playing in the Prem week in, week out. He's not even played much reserve football so i'm sure we won't be seeing lots of him but Moyes defo likes him, he wouldn't take a 16 year old instead of someone like Kissock, Irving etc if he didn't see any real talent in him.

As for that Lukas, he is proper [Poor language removed].
