timmy slotting past city's first choice keeper twice with his off foot :lol::lol:

i think he might have just told city what we think of their chances, i don't care how many goals they score this season they won't be able to keep 'em out.

Mexico 2 US 1. The US still unable to get a win in Mexico City.

Anybody see the match?

Just saw the highlights b/c it was only on the Spainsh language network which I don't get. The 1st goals by Mexico and the US were sick. Davies finish was nasty and Donovan's pass to unlock him was world class.

Timmy had a couple sweet saves and had excellent position on Mexico's 1st goal, its just the shot was better than perfect.

With a little more exp Davies looks like he could develop into a Andy Johnson type player if AJ was 2 steps faster. Donovan, well, in my opinion there's no player in the world that has the talent he has who could be picked up for under 8M.

DosSantos looks like he's starting to show promise wouldn't mind a loan deal at all. Reminds me a bit of Fernandes.

Bradley got critized again for trying for the win and putting Feihaber and Holden in. I liked the stragety. We've pretty much qualified, a loss or tie doesn't help or hurt us. We needed to go for the win to keep up an outside chance of snatching a No.1 seed or getting the final Tier 2 slot.

I watched via Telemundo - had never seen a match at the Stadio Azteca until last night. Really a daunting place to play.

Howard played quite well. He had no chance on either goal - a screamer from 30 yards that clipped the underside of the bar and an unchallenged shot from 8 yards.

Would love to see Dos Santos at Everton - he dominated the US during the Gold Cup final and plays RM!!!!.

Dempsey is serviceable and crafty but he really lacks pace. Would also like to see the Michael Bradley rumors pick back up. I'd also like a million bucks but I don't see any of the three happening.

Yeah maybe it would have helped.

Still doesn't explain as to why you think International Football has had it's day.

In the old days when players generally played in their own countries & our exposure to foreign players & coacxhes was quite limited I can understand the attraction in having international football where different players, coaches, style & cultures could be compared & contrasted. A national team drawn from the best players at that countries best clubs would be something special - better than those club sides. But that's not the case anymore - those club sides now select the best players from all over the world & the top club sides are probably more than a match for any national team. Also the huge amount of money involved in the game means the biggest clubs will exert evermore power & I suspect that in the fulness of time we may well see the World Cup take a back seat to the world club championship. We already have rumblings about the release of top players & the issue of compensation to clubs - the whole money issue alone could kill meaningful international competition. All imho, of course.
