My m8 used to bet on us to lose every game, he said it was some compensation if we lost. I can never bring myself to bet against us, I sometimes back us to win. Away to Fulham, late last season, really annoyed me though. I backed us to win, with 2 other teams and Woods to win the Masters (after 2 rounds). I normally just bet a few quid, but for some reason I went for a £20 acca, only to be let down by one of our worst performances in the run in! I still can’t bet against us though. I’m tempted to back us today, i’m a sucker for disappointment!! COYB!

There's so much football and betting options out there that it's quite easy to have a bet without including Everton at all, that's what I like to do, couldn't bring myself to back against us.

Quite a few on here have admitted to backing the rs to 'soften the blow', when they win, wrong uns the lot of them.

I have never bet the other team to beat Everton so I do not know if that “softens the blow” or not.

Nor will I ever know.

(though to be fair I had bet us at 25/1 ante post for the F.A. Cup in 1984 and stood to win a fair chunk of dough.....so I had a few quid on Watford to win the Cup outright after the semi finals to make sure I was quids in one way or t’ other).

Nor do I ever back us to win any more either.

Yes, it sure heightens the joy when we win and I have backed them......but I am always euphoric after an EFC victory anyway.

But there is nowt worse than Everton failing to win and it costs me money into the bargain

Repeat well worn phrase - I'll never do it again...go back to mantra of back em with me heart not me wallet...then succumb to the same delusions sometime in the unseeable. Shower, rinse, repeat. Pathetic.

Anyone who does this isn't a proper blue.

There’s elements of our support that actively want us to lose certain games. There’s someone on here, by his own admittance, hates the RS more than he loves us. Are they proper blues? I’d never bet against us, conflict of interest. I want us to win every game and not go into a match with even a small percentage of me thinking of making a profit if we lose. Our fans have a go at the players for not having a winning mentality, so often it looks like they’re not up for the fight. Quite a few of our fan base are exactly the same.

I might reconsider this though, as there is some real value to have when we play some teams and the bookies have us as favourites for some unknown reasons.. esp this season

What got me thinking is Burnley are almost 2/1 at home against us. Ridiculous given our typical away form.

Only did it once, needed Everton win for 1.6K accumulator, playing Southampton on Monday night so I stuck 20 on a draw and 20 on Southampton win, ended up 0-0, it was the night Jason Puncion went for a s***.
