Michael Shields is innocent? A court found him guilty, so they should all suck it up and stop playing the Hillsborough/Media guilty card.
Wow, were has this come from!?!??
Personally i think its bollox, the evidence was totally tainted and the lad is innocent, some1 else even admitted to the crime. Imagine if that happened to you? me? Another blue?
Shocking idea of justice.
When he was home...
The motive was clear. "It was me..." Shields returns to UK, "Oh sorry... It wasn't me", and then even if it went to trial, no way would he have been convicted because of evidence, including the victim saying it was Shields.
Imagine you are the victim. Why would you be adamant it was Shields and protect the guilty party?
Not being in the North West, I've paid little attention to the case. So was the evidence really compelling?
You mean the lad that had a paving slab thrown on to his head when he was on the floor? He pointed out his attacker after having his head smashed open?
The same attacker that he was shown before the ID parade and told that it was that lad there. Im not being funny did you see the docu that was made about it? And it wasnt made by RS, it was made by a neutral body, they found so many holes in the case it was unreal.
Why would they lie?“Three Bulgarian witnesses told the court that they saw Shields pick up an 8lb paving slab and bring it down on Mr Georgiev’s head, while Wilson and Thompson laid into him with hefty kicks. Daniela Krumova, a waitress working at Big Ben’s, identified Shields as the person who hit Mr Georgiev with the slab. ‘He was like mad,’ she said, ‘out of control.’ “
For Liverpool FC to allow a player like Jamie Callagher to join the media hysteria and even dedicate goals to his cause is unbelievable. Shields was tried in open court in a democratic country and so far the only doubt about this case is a statement from a fellow hooligan who is not man enough to show his face in court.
I really wonder how the British public and press would react if a Bulgarian were to commit a similar crime in the UK and have a friend make a statement back in Bulgaria. I really wonder if anyone would even consider sending the poor Bulgarian kid home just because his mum claims he’s so lovely...

He was found guilty by a court of law. It's only in the media because its Liverpool.
I know that is true of both statements. But miscarriages of justice are not uncommon. And no offence to to Bulgaria, but I would imagine its justice system is not as good as it might be. I just wondered what evidence there was for doubting his conviction was sound, and what there was for believing it to be safe.
