Great Dane

Player Valuation: £15m
Imagine this - it is June, Everton have just ended the 07/08 season on 4th place and Kenwright has promised Moyes £30 m. to spend on new players. Who would you get and why?

Steven Pienaar (Dortmund) - £2.5 m. - has proven himslef to be perfect for EFC.
Daniele di Rossi (Roma) - £10-12 m. - superb defensive midfielder who would take over from Carsley and would be able to play those killer passes from behind that Carsley can't
Manuel Fernandes (Valencia) - £6-8 m. - you just don't turn bad that fast. Give him a preseason with us and we'll see Manny back to his best.
Kim Kallström (Lyon) - 8-10 m. - excellent winger, has pace, skill and will both create goals and score them.

I would not sign Kallstrom as a winger, he is better as a balance midfielder, though he can play on the wing. He works hard on defence, and has a really good shot in him as well.

Unless Fernandes' attitude & application improves before the end of this season i seriously doubt that DM will be investing in his undoubted talents, some might say that that particular decision has already been made !

That´s the thing, i can´t really find any player that would be great on that spot. But we need some back-up there, a creative player. We shouldn´t do the same mistakes as RS and buy a player and then put him on the bench. It´s enough with AvdM. Jesus Navas would be a dream, but i doubt he would come. Quaresma maybe?

Maybe a cheeky bid for Aaron Lennon, who might be shifted out at Spurs - would you have him?

Despite already having Pienaar and Osman - and thereby favorites for shortest PL midfield:lol: I would take Lennon.

our midfield is too small and lightweight, we need some height and strength in there.

i would have Albelda, Downing, Appiah, Arshavin & Crouch...

I really don't understand what people see in Appiah, i think he's massively overrated and now quite possibly a crock.

This statement smacks of irony.

Arshavin being 5'6 and Downing not very strong at all and Appiah standing at 5'10 aswell.

Albelda is past it... Crouch is a good suggestion though.

He is. He's a poor mans Muntari in my opinion. People are talking about him being our next defensive midfielder when he's actually more attacking than defensive. He's injury prone too.

I think we need Pienaar, two central midfielders, a winger and a right back.

I think we should buy Fernandes or atleast get him on loan for a full season. The potential and quality are there but he just needs to be his fitness right and feel loved. We are in desperate need of a deep lying play maker and Fernandes could be that man. Even when he's not on form he's always making himself available and starting attacking moves. I'd take the risk on Manny, make sure he's settled down and he'll be excellent next season.

The other midfielder has to be Carsley's replacement. I'd still keep Carsley as back up but where in need of someone with a bit more mobility about them and more quality on the ball. I haven't really got anyone in mind but presence and height would be nice.

Next I'd get a winger with pace. Even if he's not a starter someone who can come of the bench and gives us another dimention. Giles Barnes, Downing and Aiden McGeady have been mentioned.

I think most of all though we need a new right back. Someone with a good all round game and someone who offers a bit more height. If Baines is going to be first choice next season then I think the right back has to be big so that we even it out a little and get some height in the back four. Even someone like Wes Brown would do me. He's isn't world class by any means but he's alot better than Neville and can also fill in at centre half which is handy. Bosingwa maybe also.

Obviously Pienaar is probably in the bag already.
