Tips for sausage and mash:

Make the mash with cream instead of milk and butter

Add a little wholegrain mustard, or chopped garlic, to give the mash more texture and flavour

Chop and fry half a red onion and a handful of mushrooms - add them to the gravy before pouring over the rest of the meal

ps when making cheesecake, use Philadelphia as the base for the mixture. Absolutely unbelievable flavour.

Seconded. Stirring the mash/whisking it with a spoon more than mashing it with a masher makes for a nicer, smoother texture.

Also, a square of 70%+ cocoa solids dark chocolate in your chilli con or sin carne makes it lovely and rich.
