Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
pickling, absolute artform, just opened the cupboard and there they were, a brand new jar of pickled jalapenos, i just had to have them. once opened they had to go in the fridge where i saw pickled silverskin onions.......likewise. you may think you dont like gherkins 'cos of mc'ers soggy bit, but pickled whole ones are nice, mustard pickle, mixed pickle all great fodder. if you like eggs and havent tried a pickled one then you should.

pickles... superbamundo.

Pickled Beetroot & Cheese sandwiches were a staple of mine for years - preferably with a packet of pickled onion Monster Munch...

Big fan of the eggs, onions, branston and now jalapeno's on my homemade nachos.

Gherkins are still a big no for me though.

Pickled gherkins are God's own pickles. Especially those lovely crunchy cornichons.

Weirdly I just made my own pickled onions, though they wont be ready for a few weeks.

Made my own beer too. £10 for 40 pints, oh happy happy days.

I also have an allotment. All I need now is a pipe and slippers. And to age 30 years.......

beetroot....yes, although never really thought of it as pickled before, red cabbage is also fab.

i reemember doing pickled onions as a kid and after soaking the shalots in salt water there were hardly any left to pickle as it makes them very crunchy and i nearly polished them off in that state.

Last autumn I pickled some French beans they're great with cold meats for lunch.

Also made green tomato chutney (so-so) and apple chutney (Brilliant with cheese or ham or cold chicken or anything you bleedin' well like.).

My wife eats pickled onion sandwiches at which I draw the line....
