I always preferred this version of our official history to the new one brought out a few years ago, even if it does end in 1988.
There's a good book still to be written examining how we've managed to fall so far behind in the years since. In my own view it would need to focus on the lack of foresight and vision as to where football was going shown by the various Boards since then.
 



Brian Viners a friend of the family and he sent us a copy. When my dad died in April he said he would dedicate it to him. And, sure enough he did.
Although its primeraly about 6 months in Everton in the Gordon Lee era. It also looks at wider issues of the time.

I heard him talking about it on Talksport a few weeks a go! Seems a thoroughly decent chap!

I'm going from memory here, but there is (I think) a bit of old footage of Dixie Dean accompanied by a track from the Blade Runner soundtrack, and it gave me goosebumps every time I saw it.
