My four year old daughter is great, I love her more than anything..

She loves stories, always asking me to read her a story, which I like to do.
We (Wife and I) signed up for this "thing" where we get a kid book once a month or something like that.

Anyways, these kids book's are like small novels these days! Took me 30 minutes to read this Winnie the pooh book to my daughter today.
What happened to the large text 7 page kids books that were around when I was little? Granted they are still out there, but if I try and read one of these old school books to her, it would be a major disappointment from what she's used too..

Anyone else get baffled by the new era stuff for kids?

I read them the old stuff, daughter got a Bratts book off someone but there was no way I was reading that [Poor language removed].

The lad gets Just William with all it's political incorrectness and shortening of the word couldn't.

Yeah mate, miffy is pretty good hey..

Who is hiding under the tent... Miffy!
Who is waiting at the school... The Teacher!
What is in the garden... A caterpillar!

I know what you mean. My nieces asked me the other week to read this Thomas the Tank engine book for them. I thought yeah thats easy, big words and a few pages. Turned out it was loads of small words and many pages.
How the hell are kids meant to read that themselves?

Very hungry caterpillar
The gruffalo
Were going on a bear hunt
Calm down Boris..

All staple bedtime reading in our home!

 That reminds me too.. some of the words are fecking huge.. I have to do double takes and sometime pronounce the word in syllables just to say it right..

I loved the times i read to my kids, all snuggled up together on the couch, me reading the words and then them "reading" the pictures, and the excitement when they brought their first reading book home from school, no words just pictures but made them soooooooo excited to sit on the couch and "read" to me, nowadays all my sons seem to wanna read is Nuts!!! xx

That's how they teach them in school here, they have to "read" the pictures to the teacher , they have such imaginations, i think we should have 4yr olds running the country xx
