If we had a new stadium, re-development.

I was listening to Kenwright on his BBC verbal roundabout last night. Kept saying that a new stadium will increase revenue, eliminating debt and making more money for acquiring players. Got it. If I might pose a hypothetical question: Even if we had a new stadium with more seating, could we fill it? It seems to me that unless it is a derby or a big four match, there are empty seats at Goodison on a regular basis. Now I may have it wrong, but why build a new stadium when you don't sell out the one you currently have? I guess my question is, if we had a new stadium or re-done Goodison, would it be filled to capacity week in and week out? It would be disastrous for the club to have the debt of a new stadium, plus higher operating cost, and not fill the seats. The trouble we would be in would make the financial dire straits we are in now seem cozy. Not a wind up here, just posing a hypothetical to those on the ground, near the ground who are more aware of attendance levels than I am. Cheese on Toast. No, seriously I am enjoying quite possibly the best cheese on toast ever as I write this.

I'm with you mate, although I think the main reason there are so many empty seats are to do with lots of the seats having an obstructed view.

On a side issue, if we were to build a new stadium, I'd want it exactly like Ibrox, Cologne or The Westfeldstadion. Not a bowel shape. Capacity of 55,000. With a krispy kremes donut stand.

This.

Not a fan of soulless identikit ovals

We used to have a 55,000 stadium when there was terracing, we only used to fill it occasionally in the 80's, I looked right back to find when we had last had over 44,000 (Sunderland had that against us the day before) for a 'normal' game, it was way way back tbh, sometime in the 70's... early 70's I seem to remember.
Even as champions our attendances were nothing to write home about, and included some 26,000 ish crowds against Man U.

Average Attendances
83/84 19,288
84/85 winning the league 32,977
85/86 as champions and chasing a double 32,131
86/87 winning league 32,388
87/88 as champions, average att. 27,782.

i dont think the new stadium would be aimed at increasing are capacity. it would be aimed at improving are facilities first and foremost thus giving us a significantly increased commercial revenue.

Thanks. Was kinda fixated on the whole attendance and gate revenue bit. Wasn't even considering the corporate hospitality. Having been all over Goodison on a tour, there is no room at the moment. Reidy, thanks for the attendance numbers. Interesting stuff. I can see how the lack of capacity for corporate hospitality is a huge limiting factor. Also, I guess I have underestimated the number of obstructed views. Only been to one match and was in the Park End. Gotta say on a side note, I am very excited to see Best Buy sponsoring us. I have a feeling they could get more involved.

I prefer the old stands than the new ones. If you notice the old stands are always shallower. So I'd want it to be onm the shallow side.

Everton, just refine and concentrate your efforts rebuilding one stand eg, the Main Stand, and rebuild that.

You are not capable of a project bigger than that.

Do what it takes to acquire the land off the corner half of Goodison Road, sell a player or two for the money if need be, (it's not like we're going to miss out on a trophy is it), put ticket prices u, pdo a couple of lines of corporate boxes in there as well.

We can then put all this stadium talk to bed, it's been a large cloud over us for years, and we're going nowhere fast until you get off your arse and just do it.

If you look on eticketing at say the chelsea cup game, look at the stadium plan and you will see the swathes of obstructed views we have. They will all still be available so will be green I think.

There are inevitable costs of maintaining an old building, which will only get worse, these additional unforseen expenses would be minimalised with a new stadium. I would hope not only improving revenue but also reducing outgoings (apart from the stadium investment). We also have no need to build a whopping great building, just something modern that suits our fanbase size and requirements.

I always liked Sampodorias

Are we able to dig down on the Goodison site ?

more executive boxes seem to be the way to go. do other clubs rake it in from them? we should build behind the park end-if we dont budge the whole place up into half the car-park (we should tho), we should put as many boxes where the family enclosure is and then rebuild the bullens. leave the main stand til last.
