This may sound strange, and I hope I do not word it wrong. But maybe with Pip shining in CM with Spud, Hibbo has been lifted, maybe is not so worried about losing his position in his beloved team, and wants to make sure he is never questioned again.

Do not forget, footballers are fickle.

But imagine how much it means to be a toffee and play for them. Imagine how you would feel if you thought you had lost that spark. Any player can fight for his place, but supporting the team you actually play for. Totally different ball game. Maybe his passion for us, and the prospect of slipping off his dream effected him far more than we could imagine.

Thoughts?

Maybe so. But hes still got competion for his place, Jacobsen is hovering and this new Irish lad at some point you would have thought. So hes still under pressure for his place. Its nice that he has risen to the challenge and hes playing well recently. I hope it continues.

I just assumed Moyes finally realised how wank he is doing anything other than defending so has been working on that side of his game.

Increased ability and increased confidence in his ability is helping him every game. Before Hibbo would get a nose bleed if he crossed the half way line or had the ball at his feet longer than 3 seconds but not now.

He has reasons to smile.

I think the fact that now the other left/right backs in the team are of such quality is rubbing off on his game. When he came through he was surrounded by very defensive hoof merchants like Ste Watson and Rhino, who were good defensively but just hoofed it forwards, traditional full backs. Now he has Baines, Valente, Neville, who have better all round games and are good in attack, more like wing backs. Obviously you're going to try and match and exceed those around you, and now the bar has been raised, mixed with the confidence in the team, he has raised his attacking game.
