HYPOTHETICAL: Balotelli

HYPOTHETICAL scenario I've had running in my mind, not even a rumor - I can't be clear enough on this...

But ever since I saw Aguero yesterday, striking a good partnership with Dzeko and hearing that Tevez seems likely to stay, it seems likely that some combination of those 3 are first choice. Balotelli, Adebyor and Santa Cruz are still around and fill out the rest. And we've all seen how ticked off Mancini was with Balotelli with his showboating and immaturity.

If I were in Mancini's shoes, the best solution would actually be to loan out Balotelli (and likely sell Santa Cruz).

So IF ManCity were to loan out Mario Balotelli, would you want/welcome him at Everton? Let's even pretend that they will pay all wages etc. 100% free loan for us.

My thought?
Even though we could desperately use a world class striker, he has such potential to wreck team chemistry that I would rather Everton pass on him. No long term potential for us since there is no way we'd ever be able to afford him, we'd just be helping them out. In theory we may score more goals for the season, but he wouldn't fit a 4-5-1 well anyway. I think he would cause way more problems than he'd solve.

And he has no loyalty to the club either.
Why did I mention that? Because of the apparent double standard I seem to be setting for myself. I've publicly stated recently that I AM in favor of us bringing Barton in on a free. Is there really a big difference between the two then? Arguably we need a striker more than a midfielder right now.

I think Barton has turned a corner in his life (with alcohol at least). I think coming back to his favored team could be great for him and for us. I think he is at least TRYING to do better and our team/manager could help him in that.

I think Balotelli is just convinced he's the greatest ever and isn't putting in the effort to be a good teammate, mature at all, and is/would be JUST a mercenary (and a largely ineffective one for us).

That's my take, what do you think? Would you take Balotelli? Would you take Barton? Do you think this is a double standard?

170k a week.

Oh I know. That's why I said, "Let's even pretend that they will pay all wages etc. 100% free loan for us."

In essence, they are on the hook for all financial side. All we do it help develop the player for them and risk our own chemistry.

Then yes, of course. Ballotelli will end up at Milan though.

No, No and NO. Balotelli is not worth the trouble, and I wouldn't take him on a free. Is he talented? Absolutely but all of the extra baggage he brings is not worth it. He's a child with a lot of money. Would not want him in my club's kit.

As I said in the Barton thread NO. He's got screws loose and could go off at any time. Lucky he didn't get the red in his first game of the season for something was totally uncalled for. If that's the first game then imagine how many reds he's going to get this season. He's undeserving of the Everton Blue.

You know threads like this just makes us look desperate. We are not desperate, we have no money. Support the players, not crazy ideas to bring in outcasts from other clubs. We are not the destination for the "baggage" players from other teams. We are better than that.

Let's get this straight. You've invented a Balotelli loan hypothesis just to convince us that we should get blue Bas-Barton in.
Why you evil genius you.

I wasn't trying to make us seem desperate. In fact, that I was echoing part of your sentiment in that even entirely FREE, I would not welcome Balotelli (for all the reasons that both of us listed).

However, that made me question why I would be willing to accept Barton as both seem to be quite blert-like. And that has me wondering why the double standard. I wanted to see how other felt on it. To be honest, it makes me second guess my willingness to accept Barton and was curious if others may see it that way too.

I would take Balotelli in a heartbeat. I think it would be a laugh having him in the side. I think sometimes we are a little too serious about this game. We are in it for the fun and enjoyment the game brings our lives, and having someone like Balotelli in the side can only add to that.

Plus think of all the drama he would create. Lets face it, we are no better than the women discussing their soaps, of the wrestling fan-boys and their soap opera. We all love the drama, but don't like to admit it.

I agree with Dylan actually. Think he's fun and we'd certainly get more attention from the media. Oh wait, Dylan, are you crazy? Nah seriously, I like him
