Unfortunately £1.3bn does not allow you to buy a title, hence my vote for slow (but not too) and steady as it should be done

I'd rather have sustainable success and a Golden Era of 5-7 years of Champions League and perennial top-4 finishes in the Premiere League. If it takes 2 or 3 years to reach that plateau, I'd be fine with developing a solid core of young players that hit their prime together.

I'd choose sustainable success over a 1 year wonder type of situation. What I don't want is to have to push all the chips into the middle for one year of glory (League Cups and Top-4 finish) only to be left with a bad debt situation and aging older players that start declining fast.

As long as we beat Liverpool to it ! To be honest i don't expect us to crack on over night, it will take time, but as long as there is a clear sign we have moved forward i will be happy to wait.

Everything goes in cycles and the short version is that with the massive rise in domestic sky money the CL money is no longer the playing field unleveler it once was.

Not since Leeds won it with Cantona+ a star team (not a team of stars) and a pragmatic efficient man with a plan in charge. has the race been so open.

Hence Leicester, Ranieri himself said early doors, quite correctly, the teams are lining up not to win it

something along the lines of, not one piece at a time and not throw money at it, but a relatively, for us, large-ish initial investment to prime the pump, then add to it one or two pieces at a time... this, hopefully, would give us the star team as opposed to a team of stars like Yaya sulking coz somebody forgot his birthday.

That and the man with the plan...which will NOT be Roberto...unless he has a revelation/rethink of Damascene proportions.

Teams of stars are somewhat Interchangeable the man with the plan is the much harder and crucial appointment...Go back to Herbert Chapman and work your way forward for all the names.

Ahem - that's the FIRST time I've ever used the term kopite behaviour, so don't tar me with the "always gets used on the forum" brush! But it is ... I'm referring to finding £20 and the attitude "yes - I deserve it because I'm special - I was born to deserve this luck." Definitely kopite.

And I disagree - one does "find" investors. If you have a quality product, like Everton, people will show an interest and want a piece of the action. I will give Blue Bill his due, he's done a magnificent job in finding the right fit, but I do not believe for one minute that this means a 24/7 search. I imagine he has had a great deal of interest come his way and he's finally decided on one which looks a good fit.

Equally my bank has "found" me as an investor. I had a bit of cash, I searched for the best interest rate and they ended up with my money, from which they'll undoubtedly make more from than I will receive. They have not had to sweat hard to find the investor.

Either way - getting back to the point .... I don't believe it is "Everton" to go and buy a shed-full of players to get overnight success. Two or three perhaps, but nothing on the crass scale of Chelsea, Man C or the red lot.

I tarred nobody with that brush. I simply stated that it get's used a lot as a point of disagreement. And shame on you for popping your "kopite behaviour" cherry. You did so well articulating your opinion without it :).

So the investor that was found for you, did you have a period of due diligence or did you just take it for granted that it wasn't funding arms in some back stick country? When we are talking about finding an investor for something you hold dear to yourself, a lot of work has to go into ensuring it's the best forward move for the business, without tainting it's reputation. I did not say that this was a 24/7 process, but it wasn't as easy as "best interest rates". I have some experience with this as I had to find investors whilst working in Malaysia. You get bombarded with time wasters, p!ss takers and criminals wanting to launder money. It really isn't an easy process and it did take up a lot of my time. Remember, dodgy investors know how to hide their ill gotten gains.

Regarding the £20 world owing you something comment, we are all guilty of that aren't we? We believe with our history we should also be winning trophies and titles and demand that we get back to that stage of our glory? I certainly do and if that's kopite behaviour then I am equally guilty. We are Evertonians, we ARE special and we deserve the best. There, I'm a kopite too.....

I have always felt it won't take a net spend of £100m every summer to get us into the top four, the key for our new chairman is to secure the likes of Barkley and Lukaku to long term deals. Yes we would all like Stones to remain at the club but everybody has a price especially centre halfs who perhaps isn't your typical English centre half if that makes sense. By keeping Barkley and Lukaku I feel we can attract better players. I think it's fanciful thinking if we think Moshiri is going to pump huge sums into the squad every year.

The Spurs model should be what we try to replicate, yes they have bought big, Lamela, Chadli etc. But they could because they had the Bale money and were quoted high prices. There team is backbones by players who haven't cost a fortune Ali,Kane,Alderwerald,Dier, they have 4 full backs for competition for places who cost pittance.

We are close and have a lot of players that could be taking off the wage bill, Gibson, Hibbo,Osman,Pienaar,Kone and McGeady. Saving money on there wages could get us 3 higher quality players and the lauded youth team players could easily make up squad numbers.

Ok, so who pushes whatever LM we bring in? I think KM could do that. Maybe he's just demotivated like most of us get in work. I mean, he's playing 2nd fiddle to a player you want to see leave after Howard. Maybe this is the intrinsic boost he needs?

I would keep him.. But he's not playing and Roberto clearly doesn't want him or like him.. So sell
