Didn't he replace Cleverly yesterday?

Get rid of Hibbo?! Goodison hasn't rioted yet has it?

He did replace him... That's one game in how many? He will be off IMO and I think we should buy someone better than him when he does.. I have no idea who as I only really watch Everton as I don't get match of the day in Aus... But a top quality LM and top GK would improve is no end... A decent striker to push lukaku and promising young players to bolster the bench would be a smart , realistic and sensible aim I feel

You mention bringing in a striker to push Lukaku, but who would push a new LM if KM goes? If we bring in a world class LM who knows he is a sure starter, don't we run the risk of complacency? Also, can KM moan if he is 2nd string to a world class signing? No KM means Kone will be a makeshift backup LM?

Just a thought.

Kone is the second person (Howard is first) that i would be getting rid of

Won't FFP stop us from "doing a city " anyway? I want all the dead wood gone and replaced by two big signings and promising youth players... Dead wood is Gibbo, hibbo, osman, Kone, aiden, stevie p, mirrallas ( assuming Martinez still won't play him) , and Howard. I would want the big signings to be a GK and mirrallas replacement. And the others to be replaced by young players. And before anyone says that it's to big a clear out and all that.... Apart from Howard and Kone .. None of these players have played any part in this season... And the part Howard has played is the reason that he should be leaving along with Kone.

Hibbo and Ossie have been loyal servants to our club and are as honest pros you'll ever likely to find. Admittedly there are past their sell by dates but personally I'd be gutted if there wasn't room for them 2 at our club.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a title - this is a sport - the whole point of a sport is to earn success by talent and endeavour. To act otherwise is entirely classless, it demeans the entire history of the competition and is only befitting those clubs without history and integrity.

Ok, so who pushes whatever LM we bring in? I think KM could do that. Maybe he's just demotivated like most of us get in work. I mean, he's playing 2nd fiddle to a player you want to see leave after Howard. Maybe this is the intrinsic boost he needs?

Talent costs money mate? I fail to see your point. More money = better talent? We showed class and endevour finding the right investor. We've got to use that cash.

Fella's we werent known as the Goodison Millionaires for nothing! We have a history (albeit an ancient one now) of outbidding everyone else formthe top players available! I would have no problems with going back to the days of John Moores personally!

I'd be surprised if both these club leg ends aren't offered life-time contracts

Perhaps, mate, I didn't explain it clearly. Obviously talent costs cash - unless that is you are talent in the public sector or are an essential worker, the you're hired on the cheap, and talent is rewarded by your boss by him or her asking you to do the work of the talentless too.

Investing in facilitites, training and youth, then retaining them = the way to buy talent.
Skillfully adding to your own efforts to fill gaps with one or two finished articles elsewhere = the way to buy talent.
Attracting a TEAM full of mercenaries that have no interest in the background of the club, and are only there for the cash = NOT the talent to buy.

And as for class and endeavour finding the right investor .... well perhaps ... but this is akin to finding £20 outside the chippy and believing that it was because you were brilliant, somehow, and you had it coming. Strikes me as koppite behaviour that.

Again, I'm confused by this comment. You don't just 'find' an investor like that. I'm sure you know there's more to acquiring an investor than finding 20 quid. And as for the 'kopite behaviour', I find that gets banded about on this forum because an opinion doesn't match your own. That's not kopite behaviour, I'll let you decide what it actually is.

Regarding a team full of mercs, this is football, players go where the money is and if they don't it's because they're simply not good enough. Just like real life jobs, you head hunt potential mercs everyday. You get short term expertise at a premium. You don't get head hunted when you're not up to the task, i.e you become a 'worker', again this means your workforce will also become a kind of merc for an extra 50p an hour elsewhere. I agree, players like Ross have blue tinted glasses but players not affiliated to the club couldn't give a toss about or heritage and we cannot form a team full of boyhood blues.

Money talks.

With the new sky monies the money he needs to invest for playing staff shouldn't be huge. I hope he's looking to improve everything else. Buying Finch Farm, improving our stadium situation, removing debts if needed, promoting us in large markets outside England. Buying players for me is a minor priority as that's a temporary fix and we look like a Bentley on the field but under the bonnet is a 1.1 fiesta engine.

You could argue that signing star players is a good way of increasing the clubs profile in the overseas market as it would at least make people take notice of who we are, however I do believe that investment in our infrastructure i.e new stadium, stronger marketing and commercial team to not only enhance the agreements we have in place but to active seek and exploit the opportunities are competitor are benefiting from today.

On the pitch we are not that far behind the top teams but off the pitch we are light years behind, so from a strategic long term planning perspective this has got to be address with equal importance as the investment in playing talent I think

.

Ahem - that's the FIRST time I've ever used the term kopite behaviour, so don't tar me with the "always gets used on the forum" brush! But it is ... I'm referring to finding £20 and the attitude "yes - I deserve it because I'm special - I was born to deserve this luck." Definitely kopite.

And I disagree - one does "find" investors. If you have a quality product, like Everton, people will show an interest and want a piece of the action. I will give Blue Bill his due, he's done a magnificent job in finding the right fit, but I do not believe for one minute that this means a 24/7 search. I imagine he has had a great deal of interest come his way and he's finally decided on one which looks a good fit.

Equally my bank has "found" me as an investor. I had a bit of cash, I searched for the best interest rate and they ended up with my money, from which they'll undoubtedly make more from than I will receive. They have not had to sweat hard to find the investor.

Either way - getting back to the point .... I don't believe it is "Everton" to go and buy a shed-full of players to get overnight success. Two or three perhaps, but nothing on the crass scale of Chelsea, Man C or the red lot.
