good luck to them , same things were getting said about liverpool when we won, mostly from people in over grown mill towns that now think there cool like Manchester and Leeds and are about as interesting as a leaflet given to you by some god nut on your doorstep on a sunday morning.

I think when Liverpool bid (and won) for their Capital of Culture, there were quite a few London lads (like me) who thought it was fair due.

Hull is potentially nice if the social side of it improves, but even then it doesn't have the inherent culture Liverpool has had going for it. The culture would have to grow, which I suppose why this award was given, to try to force the issue.

Agreed. We may take the piss and criticise, but we can still wish them luck.
