Howard

That is an awesome video...you know what kinda made me giggle? I watched that and wondered, "why is Tim wearing Kasey Keller pants?" :) He's so rarely in those long pants...

I'm guessing Hamid (age 20) is just there to learn. (Oh - we saw Hamid - he was the starting goalkeeper for DC United).

Hope he has a good game and carries that through to the weekend. We're going to play young CBs, Mexico is bringing their A team - aka Howard WILL be tested.

I think Hamid will play, as it is a friendly. Klinsmann wouldn't call him in for nothing and we frequently see split time for keepers in friendlies. That said, as a USA supporter, I always want Timmy between the posts. As an Everton fan, I hope he keeps an impressive clean sheet for 45 min against our number one rival and gets fired up for the season opener.

If anyone wonders, here's Klinsmann's first squad:
http://fourfourtwo.com/news/restoftheworld/83428/default.aspx

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Tim Howard (Everton)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne), Edgar Castillo (Club America), Timmy Chandler (FC Nurnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Heath Pearce (Chivas USA), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Borussia Monchengladbach), Ricardo Clark (Eintracht Frankfurt), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Jose Torres (Pachuca)

Forwards: Freddy Adu (Benfica), Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Edson Buddle (FC Ingolstadt), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)

As you see, Howard is in it.

I agree he looks good but he's still potential. We wil have to agree to disagree. Whats the name of that united keeper, i think he's polish. When he played against us for west brom in duncs last game he was magnificent. I thought he was going to be quality.
Kuszczak. Too bad he wasted too much time behind van der Sar.

I am not too high on Howard either and especially don't like the fact that Moyes never dropped him. But at least he's better than Shay Given...

And Szczesny will be a top goalkepper down the road, but not sure if he's better than Howard at the moment. Fact that he is in Arsenal, working out with Arsenal defenders and their coaches, doesn't help him either.

He's still only 20, and it is Mexico...guess it depends on how he does in training and his emotional sturdiness. He might get time, but I think it'll be limited. God, what a stint that would be. Hey kid - I know it's your first season and all, but here's 45 minutes against Mexico - "go get em!" I know it's a friendly on paper, but it's Mexico - which is never a friendly. Exhibited by the team Mexico is bringing - their Gold Cup squad minus Chicharito. Trust me, they would love to win again and continue to rub it in.

Both he and Dempsey might have had a little chuckle over that. Great shot, great save.
