Wasn't the way he booked Hibbert on ten minutes for nothing fantastic?
And the way he gave Mikel a talking to for a studs high lunge on Fellaini from behind?
And how Bosingwa only got a talking to for repeatedly tripping Pienaar?
His linesman let him down for their third goal.
And the Lampard yellow wasn't a card offence, he had lost the ball to Baines, so no penalty no foul and no yellow for diving as Pienaar caught him.
Anyway, big round of applause to the baldilocks referee, a tough job and someone has to be tough enough and brave enough to do it. MBE next new year?

It doesn't matter if the yellow cards were or weren't. The thing that annoys me is that he wasn't at all consistent with his cards.

I can think of two identical challenges to Hibberts, which never got bookings.

i have to agree , the consistancy of the yellow cards was pathetic.

if nevilles was a yellow , then why wasnt essien's on fellaini.

if hibberts was a yellow , then why wasnt bosingwa's (think it was him ) on baines ?it was virtually exactly the same tackle but on the opposite side of the pitch in our half.

as for mikel , he made atleast 3 challenges worthy of a yellow.

That's the one breed. Bosingwas on Baines. Identical!

Ah well - there's only so well you can do with a referee practically wearing the oppositions shirt.

just read an article about neville and how for the lampard goal he was effected by the yellow he picked up.

just a thought , but if hibbert wasnt booked , would he have tackled harder (instead of dropping back to the goal mouth ) to stop the cross for chelsea's first goal ?

also if neville wasnt on a booking would he have closed down lampard harder for there second ?

by the same measure if essien and bosingwa were treated on a equal par to our players would we have had more attempts ?

in hindsight those 2 soft yellows and referee's inconsistancy cost us a better chance of winning the cup imo.

I think as well we need to look at the opposition. Our players will know that playing certain teams your more likely to pick up a yellow for not much at all. Chelsea are one of them teams, lets not kid ourselves that its just Drogba on their team, even Lampard is known for making the most of things too. John Obi Mikel is you classical bully really who likes to go in hard, and cowardly with his tackles too, but as soon as he gets tackled he's on the floor expecting a free kick and a card to follow. Willing to dish it out but not willing to take it. Its down right cheating and certain teams do it more than others. A lot is ignored because some of the players are English too.

I could see it yesterday where our players were holding back when they would normally make the tackle because they knew what would normally follow. Thats not Webbs fault its squarly at the shoulders of the players on the pitch. The Chelsea reputation going before them and affecting our players.

the lampard dive and drogba's falling on the floor as if he was shot , limping for 2 minutes then sudden miracle recovery .......shows what a scumbag unsporting team chelsea are.

they could have all the talent and money in the world but it doesnt change the fact they have no class.
imo there an insult to football in many many ways.for the champions league debarcle alone they should be banned from europe for 2 years and have a - 20 prem point punishment.

3 clubs ive always seen as general all round scum in every area = liverpool leeds and chelsea.

Yeah that realy pissed me off yesterday how Hibbert got booked for his "tackle" yet Essien only got a talking too when it was a hundred times worse.

Don't think Webb was biased at all just he was inconsistent and got several things wrong (which actually benefitted us).

Thats just the way it goes.

Agreed. He wasn't outstanding, but he didn't favour either team in my opinion. A couple of decisions also went our way, including disallowing Chelsea's third goal.

Was it actually dedintaly over the line or not? Was hard to tell from in the pub.

Looked like the majority of the ball was in the goal but couldn't quite see daylight between the ball and the post from the angle they showed so it might of just brushed the edge of the line.

It looked in to me, mate. I saw it on German TV, so perhaps they gave a better angle. But the commentators there also seemed to have it down as a goal - but only just.
