How will Martinez`s tenure be remembered?

Started out very promising, restored a bit of pride in the team. Mostly, he will be remembered for the utter guff he used to talk in press conferences and for "winning the possession".

  1. Breath of fresh air when he first arrived. Talked up everything about the club and we all lapped it up.
  2. Pre-season, the emergence of John Stones. Paneka tekkers against Juventus. Future looked bright.
  3. Barkley on the team sheet vs Norwich. 2-2 draw, but football was great.
  4. More goodies. Lukaku joining and scoring.
And then we signed Eto'o.

Clearly had the aspirations to what we want but not the skills to pull it off.

His 1st season was great. The game v Liverpool at home which we ripped the back out of them with terrific football. But still conceded 3 and that sums him up for me. He brand of football has not and will never cut it in the prem but i hope he finds another club abroad.

The same as most people think. Fantastic first season. Average second season. Car crash third and final season. Swapped fellaini for Lukaku.

If you put below average for 2nd season, you've nailed it

In overall perception though you'd need a photo to separate him and walker.

The new guy will have to be pretty gash to beat that

I was one of the first to want him at the club. He had all the ingredients that you felt were held back by the resources at Wigan.

That 1st season was as his catchphrase goes - "phenomenonal". Breath of fresh air, sexy football, goals, solid defendce. It was perfect of Moyes and Martinez principals.

Then he began to build in his own image. With that delivered 2 cup semi finals and last 16 in Europe. But these one off games papered over the cracks of his flawed philosophy, the lack of defensive sensibilities, and a fan base who can see straight through him.

Honestly...he steered us into the right direction from the decade of Moyes steadying the ship.

But not the right man to lead.

yeah, little did we know...most of us put the 3-3 down to typical derby/rs spawn, I know I did.

The good bits were good while they lasted
The gash bits were seriously gash
nothing in between

Badly, many years from now if anyone asked me for a good memory that night at Old Trafford was great, other then that it was a nightmare.
