How will Martinez`s tenure be remembered?

Martinez started to make us believe again.

Roberto had a dream
To build our football team
We had no money so we signed the players on loan
We play from the back
With Ross in attack
The School of Science
Is on it’s way back

Der der der, der der der, der der der…

Oviedo goal v Man Utd at Old Trafford 2013 - Duration: 0:59. MrTELLMEMA 15,782 views

What a goal 8 men within 25 yards of Manu's goal. Unfortunately, we couldn't keep doing what we did in his first season.

Good luck Martinez and thanks for the memories and restoring a belief that we could compete again.

it's a bit sad how his tenure has ended - his team in 2013-14, and their last stretch of games, are the reason why i became a fan of everton. I had picked up watching football randomly and was torn between everton and spurs, and for some reason i just really couldn't ever stop supporting them, despite how hard things have been. so i'll forever be grateful for him, it's just a crap way for his career as manager for us has to end

A guy that dared us to dream again. In some ways he was the first step in our return to glory. He seemingly "got" Everton. he pursuaded talents like Rom and Del to come here. He had a vision.

Unfortunately he fell back down the hill mid-climb and lost his sight in the process. He wasn't the right guy. But I won't remember him with vitriol. now that he's gone, let's let bygones be bygones.

Quite right mate,my cat is made up he's gone, haha.

Brilliant work with the youth and acadmey setup but shocking managment of first team.

Id have love to have kept him on as manager of the academy charged with ensuring the kids are developed technically. His ego wpuldnt allow this thou.

Winning rate = 29.33% in the last two seasons. Spouting crap with every opportunity. Wigverton.

Although born in Spain, I think his tenure will be remembered as the logical conclusion to the Dutch style of Johan Cruyff. Cruyff famously stated he'd prefer to win 5-4 over 1-0. Ruud Gullit, a generation later, said somewhat tongue in cheek that he'd prefer to lose 5-4 than draw 0-0.

Finally there was Martinez, who'd prefer to lose 9-1 than win 1-0. The purest of pure football.

Not the fans first choice, did great first season, failed the next two.
Nice guy who could attract some great talent, but too stuck on his philosophy of breathtaking football at the expense of results
