History and trophies won.

We trump most on those fronts.

4th most successful club in the league and the least successful front we have, Europe, has still yielded a trophy win.

A lot of United fans think we are either the biggest or second biggest club in the world after Madrid. Personally I don't agree as I think Barcelona have clearly overtaken us. I consider United to be a tier 2 club along with Bayern and Juventus while Real and Barca are tier 1

as the table stood at the end of the season, in our history head to head there are 6 teams better than us.
ie arsenal we have beaten 55 times drawn 42 and they have beaten us 93 times, so they have won 38 times more than us.
Cba being more convoluted than that.

It depends on the definition of it, and there isn't one. Besides, it isn't something that a club can control. It's how others perceive you.

It's easy to point out that a particular club isn't big, but identifying a big club is subjective in most cases.

Remember when you were in division two , just saying.

Gonna throw this out there, Villa and even Leeds are 'bigger clubs' than some current PL sides, Southampton included. Genuinely not meaning to sound patronising here if any Soton fans are reading.

Not us though, we tonk them all.

Forrest have won two European cups, in the past and they're tiny club compared to Everton. I think you need the history of winning things, with a long standing period in the top division. Then size of stadium and fan base. Then add regular Champions League involvement.
