How stupid are Manu?

The other side of that is that it's far easier to stay a lifelong fan if the worst you've ever had to endure is finishing 3rd.

I think it's not a matter of easy or not. For most of us the club stays forever, regardless. We can't change our mothers either, but we love them so we wouldn't want to.

Saying that, I know of a small handful of more casual fans who have changed clubs (tho' respect to my brother: he was RS as a small boy, but binded himself with the more local Hull City once he got into his teens, and now that seems stuck for life).

To paraphrase The Bard...."Me laddo doth protest too much, methinks...." :)

eh?

this anyway

I wasn't suggesting anyone should change clubs. I just mean it's a lot less brutal to be an ardent supporter and regularly travel many hours to attend home games when you have a high likelihood of seeing a good result. It's like that barca lad that still shows up here to post in the Deulofeu thread. I said it before in another post, but it doesn't mean anything to me him saying, "Oh my grandad had a season ticket to the Nou Camp and my dad supports them too" Yeah like if his dad was a Sabadell fan he'd be that zealous.

I get it, successful teams have more fans, that's why we have more fans than say, Luton Town. Does that make the Luton Town supporters better fans than us? Of course not but you can understand a little if they don't empathise with our griping.

All in agreement with you there, mate.

I also see football fans who either have no club, or change it every year, or who follow a favourite player/manager.

There's all sorts out there: the hardcore lifelong local is the one we associate with the most, tho'.

A Shakespeare analogy.

Implying that the extraordinary lengths a person goes to in order to explain or justify sommat is often an attempt to convince a somewhat sceptical audience of his bona fides

Like our lifelong Salford Red posting his life history to explain that the fifteen years unbroken spell of success at OT coinciding with his life as a United supporter was a pure fluke....;)

aaah...gotya.

It's a justified tease, I reckon. Football bantz, innit. I'm sure @RAWK Meltdown sees it in good humour.

So, all Man Yoo fans are glory hunters. SO that makes all Everton supporters bitter, right, seeing as we're going by your rules?

Change the record I say and stop trying to put down other supporters being happy because their club has won loads of trophies. I'll be honest - I've loved every minute of it. It has been amazing.

There's teasing and then there's your boring, unfounded, stereotypical rubbish that the likes of @Khalekan come out with. So I'll just reply with more sterotypical nonsense to him by accusing him of being bitter (that's how it works, right?) Again, he has no answer to why I shouldn't support my local team - and why I should be supporting, let's say, Oldham instead?

I think if the tables were reversed, we Evertonians would find ourselves in the same position as @RAWK Meltdown and other United, City and Chelsea supporters of the last few years. Those clubs got lucky and rode the wave when the Premier League was formed with all of its riches, ours was plagued by having E.J. Smith at the helm.

Don't bite then, mate. It really is just bantz anyway. We love your Twitter feed and enjoy having you on our boards

And your posts smack of the guy who supports the smaller club.

Man U fans can claim if they want that they've been a bigger club than Everton since the Sky-era, but I reckon your bantz is better than that. Try not to fall into the same trap as @neville who was all sweet-n-pie until his Man U started being shyte.

Clearly, the fall of Manchester United is hilarious for not just Everton fans, but all fans in general. I don't see how they're gonna come back from this, regardless of money. We're talking Souness-at-RS levels of fall here...so naturally the bantz will be all over the shop.

Yeah I don't mind bantz. And we won't fall that hard, we're going to SPEND SPEND SPEND! :D
