A meaty tackle or a unjust decision gets the crowd going. Atmosphere is dependant on performance. If the performance is not there then the atmosphere is not there...eg. This season.

To clap the team off in the last home game, it's tradition. The lads who've put a shift in this season didn't deserve to hear their applause echo off empty seats into their ears.

No where near as bad as what you’ll find with Tottenham at Wembley or Arsenal or pretty much every Top Flignt English football match. If you know anyone with any serious talent for singing and songwriting encourage them to write some Everton songs.

My personal favourite was from the late 70s even though I wasn't match going at the time, simply the "Everton are magic, Everton are magic na na na". Hear that ringing out at Wembley 77 or Villa park 80 semi final on any dvd or online vid. Has a great melody to it it when it was sung with passion.
I don't go in for all these long verse like songs, that IS kopite behaviour.

in the main it used to be like this when I went to the match 70,s early 80.s before I emigrated
Gwladys Street on Saturday is one of the things if not the most thing I miss the most
admittedly we had more to shout about more often but we also had the R/S on top even more so , and some dour times were the crowd got edgy and quiet
IMO also those days the Home end G/S +/-14k standing area lends to a more vocal atmosphere !
I Was back in December and went to the Chelsea game , crowd werent too bad but nowhere like it was when I was a regular
The Southampton game I watched at home on TV ! , I do recall the commentators mentioned the crowd a few times as being on edge and frustrated which after this season no wonder ! , I am sure though if we can turn things aroundwe can get the old vibe back
