this season we could easily have achieved CL if we had anything resembling form. It's a shame we've reduced our goals to match the Swanseas of this world.
I'm all for winning trophies but will it be at the cost of long term goals and a better class of player? Players talk about playing for teams in the CL, they're not arsed who won the cup.
I couldn't give a monkeys what some overpaid, overgrown, globetrotting schoolboy wants; we want success, we want silverware.

People saying that league position is paramount to cup success confuse me.
By finishing higher in the league, and getting more money, we are offering our top players and any incoming players the chance to do what?
Win trophies!
Surely winning trophies is the be all and end all of all sports, not just football?
If we were in a position to actually win the league then I would say fine let's go for that as a priority, but that isn't going to happen for a long old while so what we should do is go for the next best thing - the cups. (Obviously without risking relegation!)
I know when my time is up on this Earth I would rather look back at my clubs history and see that we've won a stack of trophies than that we finished in a certain position regularly but won nothing!
I am greedy, I want us to be successful at everything but just now I believe we should be trying to stay successful by winning trophies that are attainable.
Besides, the TV money is looking after us nicely (and will only get better) so we don't have to count the cash incentive of league placings like we used to!
Trophies over league placing for me until such time as we can seriously challenge at the very top.

Rest in the league to an extent. Maybe Lukaku only players one match, (Chelsea). No one to play at the weekend who will start the second leg. Everything has to go into the league cup. It will be 21 years otherwise.

As for the RS beating us in the final, I for one want them. I want revenge for all those defeats. I would risk one more defeat just to see Everton finally be the victor. I keep reading on here we're better than them, well sod the devils pact, sod history and let us just batter them.

I'd rest Barkley and Lukaku for Saturday and City away. Ideally, we should look to set up differently for the league game so we don't show our hand too early for the second leg. Martinez can always try Deulofeu in Barkleys position and put Mirallas or Lennon out wide, which may be a bit of a risk/luxury. Having a fit first 11 for the 2nd leg has to be priority.
I would play Barkley in Barkley's position but get him to play to his potential
I guess I'm in the minority. I would take three or four league wins in a row in exchange for the capital one cup. Priority is top 4 above all, otherwise we increase risk of losing key players.

I just don't get the excitement of some here over the capital one cup -and I'm a 35 yr long everton supporter.
I also would prefer C/L football. I want to be able to take my sons to watch some of the best teams in Europe(Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern, Etc. If we could achieve that new owners would have to improve the club
