Confirmed on BBC northwest, 3 fans stabbed. Rome fans just like the previous time, The Italian fans seem to out of control, so why do FIFA and Uefa not take strong action. Ban them from Euro comps for 5 years that would be a start.

Don't know what kind of coverage you got over there about the fan that was shot and the aftermath in the stadia, but it was pretty shocking to see:

a) how relatively deserted most of the grounds appeared
b ) apart from the ends filled with Ultras
c) and how the players went and asked for advice from the fans about what they should do

The inmates are running the asylum over there.

Added: Sporting Life story about stabbings today

want to really hurt them? remove them from european and international footballing competitions.

when they are not allowed to defend their world cup, the appropriate message with arrive.

they should have been given the 'heave-ho' after the corruption scandal.

roma having the worst reputation in europe for violence at their place, west ham went to sicily last season and there was trouble there.

time for draconian, hugs and kisses arent solving anything.

Lets move their games to Moscow or Oslo, that just might work after five years(y) (y)

Actually when you think of it, we did absolutely nothing wrong in Europe and got banned for five years, that shower have such a reputation and keep on getting away with it..................................the game is corrupt

Alas and alack Bruce you have to be right, who knows Santa might bring the rule makers some testosterone this Christmas, especially after last night display in Rome:(

There seems to be something really rather wrong in Italian sport in general. The violence and match fixing have been well publicised in recent times but they also appear to have an enormous doping problem. Juventus were penalised for it a few years ago and Capello said yesterday that he and his team mates regularly doped in their playing days. I was always a big fan of Marco Pantani, the cyclist who died from a drug overdose, and reading his biography it appears that Italy has a terrible culture of doping.

Reading about the antics of many of their political figures I'm not sure such disregard for so called fair play is refined to sport either.
