Do the FA cup games not have to be on fully accessible channels? I though that FA competitions and Internationals have to be on terrestrial, if at all. Could be wrong though.

This is almost definitely the case. Most American sports (which ESPN is much more experienced with) have much more fluid start/end times. For example, if one NBA game goes to overtime, they may delay the start of the next televised one until the first ends. It's all built around getting the entirety of each game on TV. It's just different from football, where every 3pm game will usually start exactly at 3pm and end within a minute or two of each other.
