A few things to mention...

1. Play more direct

I have no idea why it is considered to be 'against the philosophy' to mix up play, cross the ball, shoot, etc. What is the philosophy if not playing nice football? We can still achieve that with more directness. It can't all be about possession. I'm not saying we should buy Peter Crouch and play hoof ball, but 600 odd passes and a 0-0 snooze fest last night demonstrate we need to be more direct.

Balance, balance and balance for me.

As you say, its Naismith or Barkley, never both, they operate in the same space and neither is a winger.

A winger is a must, yesterday.

Defo. Best football we played under Moyes was when Donovan was giving us that balance. Same last season with a combination of Pienaar, Mirallas and Deulofeu.

If you are looking for reasons to be optimistic then the last three games have shown signs of recovery. We have stopped shipping goals right left and centre. One against City, Two against West Ham but the second in extra time after we had played with ten men for an hour and a clean sheet against WBA and a comfortable clean sheet at that.
You build a team from the back and just maybe RM is realising that . First stop losing and in time you will start winning. If Mirallas had scored or done what he should have done(give the ball to Baines) against WBA we might have started to win.

Good thing before the season started I wrote down the names of three players who will let us down this season on pieces of paper and put them into three separate envelopes.

If Bobby did this he better pop down WH Smith for some more envelopes.

What was obvious to me and to the tv commentators was the lack of creativity in the final third of the pitch. This was compounded by our total lack of danger from the right wing and until Oviedo appeared it was the same on the left.

Seamus was expected to do it all on the right side. Defend, take on two banks of defenders, and centre.

I see Naismith and see a bloke who detracts from the team. He is just not a creative enough. He has no understanding with Lukaku and leaves the no.9 alone against two central defenders. No clever passing. No shots. No dribbling. No centres.

Against the WBA Bus, I had hoped RM would have started with Oviedo and Miralles who were both the biz at WHU and that we could turn their defence. But not the choice of the same failed recepe of Naismith plus two central defensive misdielders.
Not enough creativity.

Maybe a change of formation. Changing to that 3/5 at the back has worked wonders for Liverpool, so maybe we could try it as well? The 4-2-3-1, whilst it clearly has it strengths, it hasnt been getting us results, so why not go;

Whenever this team play 3 at the back (apart from the Citch game last season?), we lost. It just does not work.

And I am surprised to see Alcaraz on the team sheet.

We have seen arsenal and the scum change tactics and systems because it was not working for them with good results.
Martinez knows its not working as we all do if he carries on regardless not willing to change we will be in deep trouble.

Got to agree with this.

Hey, I'm not Premier League manager but I did sit there on Monday night thinking, where is the pressure when West Brom had the ball in their own half. As soon as they entered our half we robbed them quite easily, but our slow build up play means that by the time we advance into the opposition half they had 11 men behind the ball.

The game was crying out for some intensity, harrying, trying to put west Brom under pressure outside their own box rather than sitting deep.

McCarrthy obviously brings this, and dare I say in the few games he's played in the middle Baines did this too.

Ahhh, remember Newcastle at home last season? Best I think I've ever seen Everton play in years. What a far cry we are from that at the moment.

Bill Kenwright was given plent of advice in the main stand on Monday ,and most of it was get to get rid of Martinez, Bill won't be able to ignore it much longer,our managers time is very limited,Uless there is a miracle around the corner.
