To be honest the transfer market has been pretty quiet overall..And those moves that have gone through, very few do I feel gutted we have missed out on.

To be honest mate this has been one of the prem's biggest-spending transfer windows ever, and those moves we've missed out on would deffo have strengthened our squad, giving it decent competition for places.

Tho' this time last summer half the forum were thinking we had our best squad ever so maybe we don't need to sign anyone.

Didn't realise wank beat the swear filter. Great news.

I like the new kit, like the new manager and most of all I like the fact niasse won't be taking up any space on the bench this season.

No different on the transfer front but that could change in the next couple of weeks. If we win our first game convincingly I'd be buzzing/suprised.

Can't see us doing much more than last season with this squad. Also got a feeling age could be starting to catch up with Baines and Jagielka so they could spend more time out with injuries and I'm not enamoured by the prospect of Oviedo and Mori or some inexperienced youths playing in big matches. Bookies have us 9th favs, says it all really about our prospects.

Very impressed off the pitch. Securing koeman, Walsh, changes to the boardroom, new stadium negotiations and amendments to goodison.
Don't think any blame can be apportioned to him personally, for failing to nail our transfer targets, think we can lay that blame fairly at the feet of Martinez, for the clubs 'demise' over the last 2 years. Ultimately this has a bigger impact than we first feared about enticing top players to join us.

  • Let me see our best players on the transfer gossip pages, No knew players to speak of on the training ground, with our first match a couple of weeks away. The largest thread on all Everton boards are the Everton transfer thread. Oh and yes we are still Talking about a new ground on the docks some where. yup sounds like the last 10 years to be frank. At least on thing is for sure, at the start of this season there will be no one trying to lynch Kenwright.
How things change yet still remain the same.

The more things change, the more they remain insane.

The same as the old one. More concerned about the RS than what we do. Paranoid, conspiracy theorists that have a list of referees that have ever given a decision against them that goes back decades & will never be forgotten. Small club, small minded fans. Graham Stuart in the hall of fame? Wtf. Duncan Ferguson? legend? 1995, last time we won something. 21 years. And people talk on here that were a big club, not any more. 20 page threads on the ground getting cladded & some new lighting, small time.

Ok so the ones who left were over the hill - Howard, Hibbert, Osman, Pienaar but that's still 3 internationals and a couple of decent options on the bench (by last season's standards). So we're light compared to where we were in May and it's not a surprise to the management - the board and the new manager knew they were going/gone. So, yes, we have some faith in the young players but not in a "throw them in cos there's no choice" kind of way.

Right now - no departures (doubtful) and no arrivals (certainly not beyond the realms of possibility) our first team and bench is (roughly)

Keeper (perm 1 from 2)
Coleman - two from Jags (fit?), Stones (remaining?) and RFM - Baines

right - firstly we need a keeper - a decent one. MS won't let us down and Joel is ok on the bench. Right now I'd prefer MS to start.
We're not so shabby in reserve on the back line - but for the most part wouldn't be overly keen for any to be starters (Oviedo, Garbutt, Browning, Galloway (best of rest), Connolly, Pennington, Holgate, Kenny, Jones

Defensive mid (if going 4-2-3-1 pick 2: McCarthy (current form?), Barry (age), Gibson (fitness?), Besic (fitness)? (Cleverley - 5th choice here)

Yep it would be Mo and Gareth first up but there's almost no chance that'll be a permanent option.

Midfield proper: pick 3 from Lennon, Barkley, Mirallas, Deulofeu, Cleverley, McGeady (hmm) (plus reserves: Dowell, Davies, Grant, Ledson)

This almost picks itself with the first 4 on the teamsheet (likely Barkley plus two to start and one other on the bench with Cleverley)

Forwards: Lukaku (attitude, can't trap a bag of cement), Kone (turns up twice a season),

other options - Tarashaj maybe.. Niasse (I hope not), Leandro or Sambou (unlikely), McAleny (surely not), Geri or Mirallas up front

So, to summarise - desperate for : Keeper, centre-half, midfielder to hold the ball or tackle (maybe that's Gueye?), forward options.

Keen to get rid - McGeady, Niasse, Kone and anyone not interested in hanging around (Stones?, Lukaku?)

Limited bench - Gueye, Williams and a marque signing or two might do the job.

Current mood - 4/10 (3 of them down to faith in the manager as it was 1/10 in May)

In terms of non-playing staff and the new owner, superb. In terms of playing staff and on the field, very little to report and there's a ton of work to be done on the pitch, so a bit underwhelmed thus far.
