Can someone just press fast forward and get this season over and done with?
There's still loads to go and from the run it we will no doubt have a few wins that will get people purring but it's all a bit lame to be honest as this season has just been a bit [Poor language removed].
Call it injuries, luck, poor form, poor tactics or whatever takes your fancy but the only thing we have consistently been is the Everton who loves to underwhelm us. And fair enough, I doubt many teams could deal with the amount of key injuries we've suffered but I think the most disappointing aspect is that we haven't pushed on, in a season when fourth looks more attainable than most years too.
Hopefully between now and the end of season Moyes can look at one or two formations and player combinations, Heitinga, Arteta and Rodwell looked alright today second half and it will be good to see Jagielka performing well again and importantly see if Yakubu can return to what he was. You never know, Coleman might even get a run out.
I've seen loads of comments about us not having to sign players in the summer which would suit me fine just to avoid the inevitable meltseason and assorted fury when Riquelme wasn't in the back of that Davy Liver cab after all. No doubt we will strengthen somehow, even if just the squad, but key will be retaining the players we have and for the first time in what seems an eternity; starting the season well.
There's been to many over optimistic predictions of this current team sweeping all before them next year, they won't, but then there is a lot of optimism as we can play some nice football and control games with the personnel we have. Add to that a solid Jagielka & Heitinga inspired defence and Saha and Yakubu hitting any types of top form and we have a potentially very decent team, shame as it looks like Europe may be possibly one step ahead of us for qualification this season.
If we avoid another mass outbreak of trench foot to our key players then there will be some optimism, and hopefully some decent displays in the remainder of this to keep us all warm and cosy inside over summer.
I know this sounds a little premature, and you're probably right, but thought I'd post it anyway you bad condemning tits.
