Ya know what, im happy if any of them win the national tomorrow as long as it's not the horse all the kopites will be on, Definitely Red. That and no fatalities.

For what it's worth (My son got the winner last year but was at his grandparents so he never told me until after the race!) I've gone for 2 shorties and 2 outsiders:

Vieux Lion Rouge
Defintly Red ( I know, I know, but I really think it might win)
Doctor Harper
Lord Windermere

With 40 horses, the National is just about the most worst race you can try to bet on... that is why the industry promotes it so much, because it is so profitable for them. If you are gonna have a flutter, go each way with a bookie that is paying 5 or 6 places. I think BetVictor are the only firm to offer 6 places at full 1/4 price. Check on oddschecker.

I have been advised to bet on every horse. Sounds mental but there is method to the madness. Bet365 are refunding half your stake on all e/w bets made up to the total value of £125.

So if i place £3.12 e/w (6.24 total stake) on every horse the absolute worst outcome for me is £44 loss at current odds. This only happens if the favourite wins, 2nd fav comes 2nd etc etc for all 5 places. This won't happen ( i hope).

So i layout £250 & get £125 refunded within a couple of hours. Then the other £125 is at risk on every horse. I can't quote potential earnings because the permutations are huge but chances of a profit of sorts are decent.
