Hoofball - instruction or preference?

Player Valuation: £40m
Quite many of us do not like to see us play hoofball from the back. I hate it with a passion. The main culprit? Yobo follow by Distin.
Some might say we do not have players to carry the ball in midfield due to injuries but yobo had been hoofing even with pieenar and arteta in front of him.
My question is, were they instructed to play this way or it's just their preference and nothing else?

Its hard to say I would like to think its a reflex action when they cant see options to pass to ,but it does appear to happen too much for that

A big thing I noticed last night is that neither Rodwell or fellaini ever pick the ball up from the defence of offer an option so they don't have to hoof.

It probably goes like this :

Moyes : ok defenders, if there is an easy pass on, pass it. If not kick it as far away from our goal as possible.

Moyes: ok midfielders, if you wanna go and get the ball off the defence go for it, if not just hang around in the middle of the park and watch it go over your heads.

if they could at least hoof it from a bit further forward then we'd have more goal chances, imagine a dodgy keeper with some yobo bombs arriving, he'd be like a dithery rugby full-back with the yak and louis bearing down on him.
we could be the new crazy gang, afterall they won more than we have of late.

We have no movement at all, no one looks for ball in any position apart from Yak up front.

No point doing a massive explanation again, but simply, we have no philosophy of how to play football at Everton.

Exactly right and if the Yak moves out to the wing to receive the ball Cahill and Fellaini no longer push up to support the attack leaving us with no one in the box.

I think it largely comes from Moyes to try and a quick counter attack but invariably we lose possession. As for jast night we had no midfield to speak of and no one running into space to create openings.

I've been screening what is in front of Yobo whenever he had the ball and due to restricted tv view, I still can't reach a conclusion to justify if it's instructed or preference hoof.

I tend to think Yobo is somewhat limited in what to do with the ball, no accident that when Jags and ******t were together we were solid and moved better. But when Jags went and Yobo came in we lost that solidarity.

I've seen Rodwell gestering for the ball on quite a few occasions and the next thing I know, the ball went over his head.

They have nobody to take the ball off them.

That is the point here Goat, we can't dispossess in which case we can't construct properly. The argument about hoof ball is fatuous as any supporter will accept any goal no matter how its scored, even the glory teams play hoof ball the only trouble is they do it far better than we do!(n)

Maybe they just dont trust young Jack.

But the defenders we have couldnt really be considered ball players. Lescott was comfortable on the ball and could run with it, but Yobo and Distin are just old fashioned defenders, I doubt Moyes instructs his players to hoof it into space.
