Honey

Manuka Honey is the best bet probably sourced on the net - my wife & son use it in today's etc I can't as a diabetic...
Joey, this is even more likely to be “fake” because the incentive to label falsely is so high due to its premium price.
To be safe then tell your family to only buy Manuka that has an MGO of 85+ and /or NPA (Non-Peroxide Activity)of at least 5+.
The best on the UK market are circa 500 MGO and/or 15-20 NPA.

If the jar does not have any of these descriptors then avoid as it will be fake.
Anything that says “TA” or Total Activity followed by a number in the hundreds(or any number for that matter) will be a blend of honeys where the actual real Manuka content is tiny.

Trust me, as I worked in the honey industry for 10 years before I retired and sourced NZ Manuka direct from beekeepers.

Buy local from local producers.
Better for allergies too as it’s produced from the same source.
Farm shops, independent Deli’s (not Dele) etc all usually have a local source of honey.

Someone told me that local honey helps with hay fever, because they use the same pollen or whatever. No idea if there's anything in it though.

My mate sells jars of honey from his hives and I'll be livid if he's palming me off with syrup. I'm getting it tested
