First, let me say this IS NOT about bashing @The Esk. I think he is a good fellow who passed along in faith information he had either gleaned or been given by those who were, or at least claimed to be, well connected. There is a difference between someone being wrong and someone lying or being a WUM.

For those who doubt that, ask yourself if you believe the club, or Koeman at the very least, thought our window would go, and end, as it did.

Given, though, that Esk has some sort of relationship with people of that connected ilk I have questions and/or feedback that I hope he can convey back to them to let them know how people who love this club are feeling.

1) I believe that at the very least we were in at varying times for Witsel, Carvalho, Koulibaly, Sissoko, Ghezzal, Kone and Gabbiadini - potentially more. Given that we have soundly and repeatedly been turned away by those we thought could move us forward, and with current evidence seeming to indicate that we did not have a viable plan "b" (I'm sorry, but replacing John Stones with an equally capable but 10 year older model, signing Southamptons 2nd keeper, signing a mercurial winger to complete our matched set of already mercurial wingers, bringing in west hams cast off 3rd or 4th striker on loan and acquiring an admittedly boss CM does not constitute a viable plan "b")....how does the club plan to change their approach to build the club into what we want it to be? What will they do to avoid a repeat performance in January or next summer when, if they don't do something, we will also be trying to replace our ace striker?

2) part of the reason for the Stones sale was so we would have the ability to increase wages. Given the business that was done, it would appear we have wasted that. Surely that is generating conversation at the highest levels. Furthermore, while I'm am not arsed about net spend in and of itself, the fact that ours is at best neutral this window understandably raises questions. Frankly, the club owes us answers on this subject. Why, when we have money (the tv money if nothing else) and we have not just a stated desire, but actual business purpose to raise the wage bill are we dickering with Napoli over 5M or letting Moyes not sell Kone, or leaving Sissoko to be taken by Spurs. If we thought Gabbiadini and Sissoko were what we needed then showing intent would be asking those clubs weeks ago what the number was and immediately matching it with add ons for performance. Offers they could not say no to. If we had offered Sunderlands ownership 25m for Kone I think we would have him. At the end of the day, having the players our manager needs to ensure success on the pitch are worth more to the club than 10-15m. This transfer window has only emphasized that point....

I guess the main question is where do they plan to go from here as this part of the plan seems to in no uncertain terms have been a massive disappointment.

If nothing else thank you for providing an avenue with which I could voice all that.

By the laws of averages you'd have thought he would have got 1 transfer name correct...
Not the point here friend. He did have Koeman and Walsh, or at least the dof position, correct. I also think we were truly in for many, if not all, of those named above.

The point is our strategy failed spectacularly and we seemed not to know how to handle that. What will be done now to ensure we do not suffer the same in the future?

How do the same people or sources who were identifying those players respond when asked "now what"?

We seemed to have applied the "arsenal" method of doing transfer business. Don't over pay, ensure we are getting perceived "value". Haggle over the last few million and walk away when the price goes beyond what we deemed to be acceptable.
What happens when we apply the arsenal method to stadium building? When we are asked to pay big money for match tickets to fund the stadium? When the first goal isn't to win trophies or championships but to pay down the stadium debt?

Arsenal dont spend £28mil on Yannick Bolasies mate...

They also have a great midfield....

I dont understand how people arent even considering that players dont want to play for Koeman.

Swansea player
Villa player
Sheff Utd player
Fulham player
Palace Player

Koemans supposed stature hasnt attracted anyone from a high level club. I think hes known for massive failings as a manager on the continent and falling out with stars.

It all points to that...Sissoko didnt even answer his calls lol

I'm sorry, but replacing John Stones with an equally capable but 10 year older model

Regarding Stones. He wanted to leave. We cashed in...got good value especially considering his poor form last season, and replaced him with a far superior defender. 32 is right in the prime of a CB's career. Stones could end up being the superior player eventually, but the signings we've made are clearly meant for immediately impacting the team.

Regarding the 'viable plan B'...I'm thinking we were on about plan D, E, F...on a couple of these signings. Perhaps we were naive, perhaps we overestimated the ease in signing players...I ultimately think that in today's world where things and perceptions move at the speed of light, that two 11th place finishes with a history of being skint really makes us a difficult sell for a lot of players. I also think the board might have allocated some funds (not anywhere near £100 mil), and we tried and tried to spend it, but ultimately failed. We had a net spend of over £60 mil in Martinez's last two seasons which resulted in bottom half finishes. I am wondering now if the board isn't now looking to the manager that they invested in heavily (~£17 mil between Koeman's wages and Martinez's compensation) to get some ROI on that money they've spent for the previous two seasons on player signings.

Koeman will have money in January I would imagine...how much will depend on where we are in the table. If we are close to Europe, I would bet money will be spent.

Regarding @The Esk. I have no doubt in my mind that he had a person or people feeding him information. Esk has never been an ITK poster in the past to my recollection and has always been one of the soundest people on here. Where this information was coming from is irrelevant. Don't kill the messenger. If anything it seems like the folks Esk knows/trusts/believes(d) have let him down and I would imagine he's just as unhappy/frustrated/angry/etc as anyone the way the window went. If there is a lesson to be learned here, it's ITK's get absolutely slated when it doesn't come off.

Surely targeting players we want & players not wanting to come here are two different things. Everton is not, currently, the shining beacon that we believe it to be. Once we get results, finalise our stadium plans, and can show that Moshiri means business, then we'll see a transfer window! (IMHO)

If anything, I feel the club failed to "sell the dream" to the players we were after. Perhaps that lies at the feet of BK or other members of the old guard, I don't know. The postmortem will be behind closed doors & we'll only find out when these guys stop parking their cars in their reserved parking space.

Dear @The Esk
Sorry if this has been asked before...

If you were forced to eat one food for the rest of your life and it would sustain you regardless of nutritional content, what would it be? I'm curious whether it would be something you enjoy with the hope it wouldn't get old or something you think you could tolerate for an extended period of time.
