take him as back up. Gibson is injured a lot and neville isn't really the answer. It's not like he will cost anything other than wages

I'd prefer to stick with Neville than hitz tbh.

Would still bring him in on a temp tho, it's another body and it covers Barkley's loan. We don't know what's going to happen in January with ofoe so yeah... You can never have too many options although even if signed I don't think we'll see much of him!

How do you know this?

I dont. I'm using it as a reasonable average contract for a player of his standing. It may be a shorter contract and slightly less wages. But the point remains it'll run into millions that could be put toward bringing in a yonger talent with sell on value in January.

Hitzlsperger makes no sense.

The best he could hope for is a deal for the remainder of the season with another year option, with the possibility of that having an automatic trigger if he played X number of games.

If he proves his fitness, then he'll be a squad player, that Moyes can use when he sees fit, squad players need paying, so I don't see your beef. A German international vs an unamed 'young bargain'?

So you are using your guesses as facts to judge the signing. lol

Ive jumped from the first page of this thread to here to make a reply.

I simply cannot understand the negativity of the majority towards our captain. He very rarely gives the ball away and is probably the most effective defensive midfielder in the league at the moment. He continually breaks things down early before the defence are put under pressure, and moves the ball on the way he is facing without over complicating things, and allows the rest of the midfield/full backs to get on and do what they are good at knowing he is there for protection should it break down.

Basically what Moyes tells him to do - HIS JOB FOR THE TEAM!

On saturday I couldnt believe how impatient the fans were in the first half to get the ball forward quickly when we were keeping, people raved last season about Swansea keeping the ball......we do it better than they did, and we have the consistent end product. The first goal must of been 25 - 30 passes from back to front.

We dont need Hitzlsperger in my opinion, and I know it wont happen but id be happy if the 11 that started on Saturday, started every game until the end of the season!

Neville played well on saturday but badly against Swansea and newcastle. It's not that he lacks talent it's that he's simply too old to maintain his top level for every game.

Yeah this. When he can get by by doing the basics he is ok, but ask for anymore and there's no chance, some of the times he gave the ball away against Newcastle were shocking, a younger player would have been subbed and sold to port vale by full time if they performed like that.
When he can use his experience he can cope, but when he has to use hits legs and feet he's not.
