So he signs til the end of the season and plays 10/15 games, most of them in the cup probably and then at the end of the season if he's up to it we extend for another season?

It's hardly a bad deal for an experienced midfielder.

Or we could have Hargreaves who will most likely only add to our injury worries

wtf? has he signed already?

I reckon we'll sign him til the end of season then get a fee for him in January from an obscure Turkish club.. Like we did with Lucas Neill

But you can slant it positively or negatively can't you ?

For example you could say he left west ham as he didn't want to play in the championship and the poster didn't mention captaining & winning the bundesliga with Stuttgart The only time the club have won it in the last 20 years and his goalscoring record there was very impressive wasn't it ?

The same Facts can be listed in a positive or negative fashion and interpreted depending on the posters intentions , like I say I'm not campaigning for his signing just trying to be balanced.

I forgot to add that he had a trial at Wolves whilst he was still at West Ham with the view to moving in the January window whilst West Ham were still a premier league club but Wolves decided against it.

I live in Birmingham, sadly most of my mates are Villa fans and they were all pretty much in agreement that he never filled his potential, I don't think although i cant be sure that he was offered a new deal at Villa. Also just to add to my personal discomfort of having Villa fans as mates, one of them is German and insists Hitzlesperger is the worst player to play for Germany in 30 years!

A trial or talks ? I'm not sure who knocked who back but he then signed for Wolfsburg (even though that didn't work out obviously)
which looks the better deal to me to be honest . Like I say I'm not campaigning for him to sign but some seem very pro him and others anti , if he signs we'll see what he performs like I suppose and then judge.

Despite my three posts of suggesting he is below par, If the finance is minimal I cant see any harm in having him in the squad, Since Rodwell has gone and Felli is being deployed further up the field we are woefully short of central midfielders and I'm hopeful he could do a better job than the suggestions of playing Heitinga or Jagielka as a DM.

I think this could be a decent move for us. If we are looking for cover for Gibson (for this injury or the others he'll inevitably pick up through the season) we need someone who can give us what Gibson does. So specifically we need a central midfielder who i comfortable getting the ball from a centre half and can then knock it long or short to dictate the tempo. This is something only Gibson can currently give us and I think its the reason he's made such a difference to us. They can all play CM but neither Neville, Osman or Fellaini can do this - they're all short passers only. It's also the reason why Hargreaves would be no good. This might be an argument for trying Heitinga there but not sure he's got the CM positional awareness to match his passing range.

Anyway back to Hitz - i seem to remember him having a decent long pass on him. So i reckon he'd be good cover.

Oh and btw when i say long pass I of course mean switching the play, spreading it to the wings etc rather than a big jags lump.
