He also worked on the Titanic and the Lusitania*

(This is a fact; there was a local(?) guy George Beauchamp who was actually on those two ships)
Remiminded me if this lady:

Violet Constance Jessop (2 October 1887 – 5 May 1971) was an Irish-Argentineocean liner stewardess and Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse in the early 20th century. Jessop is best known for having survived the sinking of both RMS Titanic in 1912 and her sister ship HMHS Britannic in 1916, as well as having been aboard the eldest of the three sister ships, RMS Olympic, when it collided with the British warship HMS Hawke in 1911.

politics live just : In 1846, Prince Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, the future Napoleon III, Emperor of the French, lived for a brief period in lodgings just off Lord Street, Southport. It is claimed the street is the inspiration behind the Champs-Élysées. Between 1854 and 1870, Napoléon III orchestrated the reconstruction of the French capital. The medieval centre of the city was demolished and replaced with broad tree-lined boulevards, covered walkways and arcades.
Southport also boasts the longest all metal pier in the world.

In my attempts to hit 10k steps per day, I’ve been out exploring the city of London on my lunch break, seeking out historical locations etc..
This was one of the spots I visited last week. Access to the original London Bridge and a piece of timber from a Roman pier (75AD) on the same site.

Today, going to find the oldest residential house in the City dated to 1597 and the oldest home to survive the Great Fire to this day. Think its still a private residence too

Had to get the the bottom of that one!

"Death by cancer and wolf" references a historical analogy where cancer was described as a wolf because it "ate up" the body. This metaphor was used to explain the destructive nature of the disease and sometimes influenced medical practices, such as applying raw meat to cancerous ulcers to distract the metaphorical "wolf" from the patient
