question for some of you arl ones who may have watched more than youtube clips

how good WAS rene higuita, he's never mentioned as one of the greats, but that Columbia side demonstrably relied on him, and his influence shows in the modern game, with keepers now expected to come out and play a ball in the absence of defenders, also allowing the modern fullback role to develop

is this a fair assessment? and would he make a list of all time great/great keepers?

Ace drag queen perm but .....

youtube clips can go either way, and by all accounts he was the first keeper to play out and he shows impressive ball control in a lot of this

shame he played in the south American league really as there's only really highlights from his international career to go off, where one mistake can be catastrophic

dude must have thrown his back out dragging that set of balls around with him over the years though

to bring something else into this thread, dya think training in opposing positions brings benefit to players? for example playing strikers as goalkeepers and vice versa, wingers as fullbacks during training exercises

I've always wondered if much of this goes on, because surely being between the sticks gives you another perspective on what you don't want the player running at you to do, and vice versa

ties in with the thread because higuita scored a fair few set pieces and seemed to have an eye to attacking play aswell

Most players will have played in most positions in training etc but they can't play in those positions in competitive games. They will have some overview of it but a striker has no real idea of what it's like to play in goal in a Premier League match etc. And you're limited by how much you can actually train
